My buddy is a manager at the local Marriott and is able to get us on Turnberry for really cheap. Just wondering which of the courses you guys recommend. The Soffer looks better online but its hard to tell. Both look great.

Thanks all

hey, so I hope you get a chance to read this before you book.

I was a caddie there last winter... got to play the courses every afternoon.

Both tracks are great, but they're definitely different.

Miller - it's sold as the lesser of the two, but it still has some amazing holes. I'm going to honestly say that #4-7 is THE BEST 4 HOLE STRETCH IN SOUTH FLORIDA. It bends around a lake...and let me just say this - if there is ANY wind, you're gonna be lucky to play the 4 at bogie golf (I'm a 3 handicap and this was defintiely the case for me). The other holes are all pretty nice, nothing too chalanging though.

Highlights? #12 from the tips (256 onto a very guarded greed) will usually play into the wind...meaning that you might have to crush a driver just to get near it. Also, # 5 (577 par 5 water right, always into the wind) is a beast. I've put up countless triples on that thing.... Oh yeah and once you're done with 5, the next hole is 210 par 3 onto a penninsula green, water right, also into the wind. AMAZING test.

Soffer - if you only get to play one round, then I'd probably chose this course. (it's longer though - you might want to play the blues). It's more of an overall great track. All the holes are different, and nothing seems repetitive. There's a great mix of short dicey par 4s and also some just plain monster length grip-it-and-rip-it holes. #1 is a great starter - nice little 180-ish tee shot then a wedge in (total yardage is like 318 but it plays shorter). One thing I got to suggest is that you don't get greedy on ANY of the holes, especially the short ones. Most of the greens on the short holes absolutely require a full swing in, as they're pretty hard to hold and you usually need to carry something.

Alright - all in all, I'd say Miller has some of the nicest holes on the property, but Soffer is all together a better course. IMO - shorter hitter should play either Miller from the tips or Soffer from the blues.

Let me know what you decide to play - i'll send you the low down on how to play the holes. Man, I miss working there so much! Unfortunately I decided it was time to grow up so now I'm stuck in law school dreaming about Miami golf all day haha.

Also, if you aren't playing twilight, you're gonna need to take a caddie. I'll recommend some good ones if you ask. (Some of them are tour-pro-hopefuls and some are just local deadbeat kids so you wanna make sure you get a good one)

Ping G driver, stock whatever stiff it comes with. Been crushing it long & straight recently (i.e., 255 and only a 20 yard hook)

Oh actually, PM me I can probably get you a hook up with the starter, especially if you play on a sunday or monday. If you go at the right time you can give him a crunchy handshake and play 36.

Its a great golf club although probably one of the most expensive (if not the most expensive) in South Florida. I play it often as I have a family friend who is a member. Both courses are awesome and the conditions are great out there. Lots of wind too. Miller is "easier" but neither is easy. I think Soffer was used an LPGA tournament course for several years going back.
