whats the feedback and comparisons on these putters

Without a doubt, the Callie-F puts a better roll on the ball. It also doesn't have a junior grip on it. Feel is pretty similar but I think that the Callie-F performs much better.

I will agree that the callie seems to put a better roll on it than the scotty but I think the scotty feels a lot better. And, what's wrong with a smaller or "junior" grip? I do believe tiger uses the ping blackout grip which is roughly the same size as the studio design grips that are on the studio style putters.

 

At the end of the day, I'm going home with the scotty.

I have exception to the "junior grip" comment as well... MANY touring pros use the Cameron Studio Design grip, including DLIII and Brad Faxon.

 

I don't believe the "gets the ball rolling" comment either. High speed cameras have proven that the C-Grooves do not impact the roll... loft has much more of an impact.

 

That said, if you have an identical setup (loft, lie and length) I would still go with the Yes! Callie Forged, but not for the reasons above)... The forged has a much nicer feel to the putter than the dampened feel of the Studio Style in my opinion.

i got a callie forged as my back up. the problem with the callie is the finish...the gin metal wears out very wuickly and the sight line IS NOT at the sweet spot...

not directly behind the middle of the "C"

other than that it puts well a bit heavy for me and most likely about to be "Slighter-rized" as well as my NC Milled series #5

Of those choices I'd go with the Callie-f.

 

It rolls the ball better for me - for whatever reason - and I despise the itty bitty grip on the Scotty. I also think the Callies feels better.

 

The finish is its weakness. It is not very durable.

I would buy the Studio Style over the Callie forged because the feel of the Cameron is much better and I've tried both of them. The overall quality of the scotty is much better and the finish won't wear like the callie since it's pro platinum, a low maintenance finish... If the tiny grip bothers you, you can change it but in my opinion, this grip is the best grip sctooy ever made because it gives a lot of feedback and make the club head feel a lot heavier. So my vote goes to the Studio Style!

 

What type of model were you looking for?? Newport, Newport 1.5, Newport 2, Newport 2.5 ? or Mid?

I would go with a Studio Style. It has been a great gamer for me. I don't have the Studio Design grip on it, but I do like that grip.

Funny you mention this. I was at a high-speed putter fitting session with the Yes! rep lately, and he proved by skid/roll figures were exceptional with the Yes! putter (which only has 2.5* loft if I'm not mistaken) which was skidding roughly 3" before rolling.

 

In comparison - a Studio Style Newport was skid/rolling at about 5-6", which he mentioned was very, very good as well. It sparked quite a debate on a couple of golf foruoms on whether the grooves were helpful or not, but many people commented it's the LOFT differences that accommodated for the lower skid/roll figure with the Yes! vs. the CAmeron (4* loft).

 

As far as your comparison - these are both find putters, but the FEEL at impact is what should make up your mind for you. Demo both and see how it feels to you. Make sure you hit the same ball you're typically hitting, as some balls have different feel & sound off the putterface.

 

Having said that - I like the crisper feel/sound of the STudio STainless putters the best. But - the Yes! non-forged feels very nice, solid, and "warm" to me as well. The Studio Style is somewhere in between IMO.

Studio style. Not a big fan of Yes putters, dont like the look of it.

I like both and own both - but the finish on the YES! Forged is very sensitive to scratches and wont last long.

 

I guess I prefer the Scotty Studio Style NP 2 - but make sure to get a 350 gram head. Only available with 33" shaft.

 

You can custom order a 350 gram head in a 35" shaft model though......I would recommend that.

 

Scotty makes some of the best retail putters on the market :)

i definitely perfer the roll of the callie-f, but in terms of resale value, obviously the scotty is going to be alot better. btw 50jay, the Studio Style is a SS putter, and doesnt have a pro platinum finish.
