My guess is that with the amount of weight he is adding across his irons, just adding weight via a tip insert would probably move the COG. When a guy is using that much tape he is probably a true GolfWRXer at heart and loves to personally tinker with his gear.

Weighted heads & what I'd assume to be very light shafts (graphite) tells me he REALLY likes to feel where the clubhead is through his swing.

Not sure if it's still there, but at the SHO, I saw Jeff Overton give Boo's driver a looksie and mention to Boo that there was a big dent on the crown. Boo shrugs and says something like, "Ya, I know!! Happened in Tampa. Not sure how though." Then he promptly smokes it down the middle. Boo is truly one-of-a-kind. Love that guy and his swing.
