I had heard a story that someone affiliated with the owner of BOS and an accomplice were doing some pretty shady stuff. In fact I think there was a short story about it in a San Diego newspaper. The owners son actually used to work for Scotty in the old studio as I understand it.

 

I know I actually got offered at one time a putter from the guy that was his accoplice...it was a allged brand new GSS newport 2 with any and all stamping I wanted, this was back when stamping was not easy to get done, all for some silly low low price...so low it was to good to be true. Which it was.

 

I know at the time it was a big big deal. Now I dont know for sure if this had anything to do with BOS no longer doing the work or not. I know they were right next door to the old studio though in San Marcos. I am sure there are a few factors involved...

the work they do looks really good. i called a few months ago and the lady said they would do like 3 items for $99, really good price.

 

she was very attimate about how much they hated cameron and she used words like "COPY CAT CAMERON" and "SCOTTY XEROX". i found it very odd but she also said that they used to make all of his putters that were retail and that they were getting the shaft because they only cost like 15 dollars to make and he was paying them under twenty per head and then selling them for 250. sounded rediculous.

 

on a side note, one of the kids i work with obtained a raw putter head from the studio that has like specs written on it in marker. its a pretty sick thing to have for a cameron enthusiast.

Sounds like they're just bitter that they didn't gouge him for more money while they had the chance.

Now that I think of it, I have a black-finish Ping Zing 2. Maybe I'll look ath these guys to touch it up for me.....although Ping said they'd do it for me for like $30.

the prices are really good at BOS. if u have a stainless steel putter it is $99. if it is Carbon steel then it is $89. then if the putter has a nickel or platinum finish then it is $159 to take all that off and put your desired finish on it. the paint fill you can customize to your liking at no charge. u can do basically whatever u want with the paint. the only thing is that you have to take out the shaft or they charge to reinstall it. i think it is a really good deal and im probably going to do it to my mil-spec. cant wait to send it away and get it back for the up coming season.
