JBL you said that the closer your hands get to your body the more it would counteract the tendency to have a steep AOA. Respectfully...I dont think that's the case. From my experience it is nearly impossible to apply a PA2 PA3 release sequence respectfully. Maybe a bad side of my brain but I think it is a reaction. If I have width going back then my arms will "get closer" to an extent but not like that. Not to be shallow. Granted Im a rotated setup guy so my pattern is slightly different than the stuff you guys are referring to. But all things unchanged...lower handle at setup is steeper AOA. Right right.

A "getting things on topic" question to guys who are following what we are discussing...and in regards to a rotated setup question so I guess iteach is the only one who likely will answer(I think Tembolo said he is also a rotated setup guy and is a "Hall of Famer" per TD now so in his honor) how much outside the hands can I be at P2 to be acceptable? If I put hands more away from me and slightly higher and dont consciously load PA3 then the CH is pretty outside my hands at P2. Is that a sign that the handle needs to be higher at address(setup)?

Anybody else qualified to answer doesnt really post that much from what I've seen lately.

Im not the only strong grip guy out there. In my opinion I think most strong grip guys should setup rotated. I'm drinking...but my sober self understands these are "hands at address" issues Im asking about. Any input appreciated.

Reason why you have steep AoA is because you just lowered your hands without adjusting the clubhead higher. It's like when you lowered your hands, you also lowered the clubhead's destination and lowest point.
(tone applied lol) so you are saying i can set more shaft lean and still have lead wrist fully unc0cked at setup?
Not more shaft lean. More shallow shaft (as opposed to vertical) by lifting clubhead with your L hand/palm as is (don't c0ck up the L wrist), so you also get the lowest point higher, so you also have flatter lie angle.

i've watched tons of videos and looked at thousands of pictures head-on and dtl, but i'm interested in what people are seeing in first-person when they look down at address? especially in relation to their feet/shoes. i understand that what you feel is not always what is happening, and what you see, is not always what others watching you see, so i like to know what people are seeing from THEIR point of view over the ball.

And for the record I did win a major. 59-59-59-59 at the US Open in 2001. I got DQ'd by some swagger jackers for wearing a flat billed Ping cap before it was "okay". You can tell by the tag above my avatar.

I would have just clipped you by 3 strokes with my clutch 59-58-58-58.

You didn't see me in the group behind you? I had my bucket hat on and everything! Come on!

as the op I'd like to bring up the fact that we've not had any talk about the hands being forward or back of the ball at address with different clubs and the resulting effects. could make for more good education

I asked. But no cigars

PingGuy,

I will throw this out to ponder. We have two post ( those bones from our legs that fit up into our pelvic basin) that we turn around / rotate on. Some facts show that as much as 90 percent of our weight is transferred to our right POST in the BS. Now- regardless of what we have heretofore been taught most of that weight is maintained well down into the DS. If we are turning around that right / back post and our goal is to HIT down on the ball from the inside would we want the ball up toward our left foot , or would we want It in the middle or slightly back in our stance .? Having our hands behind the ball at address would certainly not make much sense to me from a Physics angle !
Just asking ? Gerry Hogan info !

Regards ,

Lane

Im talking about minor adjustments. I would never hit a shot with my hands behind the ball.

And if you turn around your right post I hope you have a good chiropractor. What im trying to do in the downswing is slide to left post and turn, right post im trying to tilt over. Or I just completely misunderstood your comments

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
