Never realized how lazy my swing looks, losing distance?

I have seemed to have lost some distance with pretty much all of my clubs over the past year or so. Just thought it was the back problems I have had over the years. That and some pretty horrific weight gain.

 

Grabbed my helmet cam from the garage and mounted it to my pushcart and flimed some swings this morning.

 

I cant believe how lazy my swing has gotten. I hate slicing or even a small fade, so I backed off my tempo some. But driving 230 to 240 seems out of place for me.

You need to turn your back more to get a full backswing.

I agree with the others, just a nice smooth easy swing. I would just recommend some weight and aerobic exercises and some stretching and you should notice improvements right away!

well, most who get quick from the top would kill for a nice natural rhythm like that which you have.

if you want to push the envelope and change you need to get aggressive. that simple. i'd say you just change out your mental approach. go from lazy to lacing. if you're ok with hitting a consistent 210-230yd drive that ropes straight down the fairway (most would be), then don't change a thing. if you want to hit that 270yd pounder that carries miles past your buds you have to have a different approach.

i am the opposite of you. i am an aggressive player. when i see a bunker 285yds out on the right side of the fairway my initial thought is to draw it off the sucker. i will NEVER think to play short, unless score means something and even then it's rare for me to play short of a bunker like that.

these videos were done two years ago. if anything my swing is even more aggressive today that it was then. do i hit bad shots? yes i do... do i hit fewer bad shots today than i did a few years ago? yes. if you and i played would you find more fairways than me? i think you would, without a doubt. would my drives be 50yds or more further up than yours? i think so... did allen doyle make 11 million dollars on tour hitting 220yd drives? yes he did...

one thing is your right arm is bending very early in the backswing
it's close to a baseball swing, i guess.
