Matsuyama signs with Srixon

Hideki Matsuyama is said to be the next star in Japan.

 

This July, he just signed with Srixon/Dunlop Japan.

 

He is the same age as Ryo Ishikawa.

 

His accomplishments:

• 2010, 2011 Asian Amateur
  
• Low Amateur at 2011 Masters
  
• 2011 Win at JPGA event as an amateur
  

He is expected to use full line of Srixon Club (wedges are Cleveland but they are the same company)

He turned pro in April and has already won twice on the Japanese PGA Tour.

 

His goal is to win a Major.

 

He will be playing in this weeks Open.

he won the asian amateur 2 years in a row which got him in the Masters 2 years in a row too and was low am his 2nd time..

same event that Tian Guan won that got him in the Masters as the youngest to make the cut..

Love to see Cleveland/Srixon/Dunlop land a big up-and-comer. I really, really liked his game at this years US Open. Lovely tempo and a seemingly solid attitude out there from the scant insight into players that we get on TV.

I like this kid.

He's very different from Ishikawa-kun. Ishikawa was a little in awe playing with the world's top players. He even said that he was watching and studying how they play and act, particularly Tiger.

This kid doesn't care about them. He plays in own game and acts his own way. That kind of confidence is going to win a lot golf tournaments.

He missed an almost tap-in yesterday early in his round, but he acted more like a man than guys twice his age. No faces or drama. He was smiling on the next tee as they waited to tee off.

And? Considering all the hype behind him, Ryo needs to produce. I'll be the first to sing Ryo's praises when he gives me reason to but that also means that I will be the first to be critical of him when he doesnt produce. Its called being a fan.

This guy is awesome. Love to see good results right out of the gate. Japan is a great gateway for golf and more players playing well over here is great.
