Need help on the irons, what are they? I was looking on the pga value guide and there is so many styles. How old are they? Are they worth 75 bucks.

I'm going to see the guy later today. He text me a photo of the back of his truck, it had easily 50 plus full bags. What should I look for when I head over to see him.

The Mac is a reproduction, 1980's I'd guess, not worth that much.

I have that model of Mac. I agree it has no special value as a collectable, but it's a nice enough example of 80s persimmon. However, that one looks like it's been re-shafted - as the bore-through looks to be filled with epoxy, whereas mine is plugged with wood.

The irons look to be in very good condition. A wedge would be nice, but then you're getting a 2 iron. Seems like decent value to me.

So I just went buy to check them out, they looked really nice, grips would need to be replaced. They had s300 shafts if I recall correctly. He just text that he found the pw for the set. He had an old looking ping karsten. It was tarnished and had a smooth face. I need to find out how to post on here off of my droid phone because I offered him 20 bucks. He had several older titleist irons and persimmon woods. He had old hogan irons and woods which couldn't have been larger then a golf ball. He had some old wilson blades with hickory shafts. couple hickory putters. He had some older taylor made irons and metal woods the size of a golf ball.

He gave me an old acushnet bulls eye putter.

If he's got the wedge, and you like S300 shafts, then I think the titleists are a good buy.

See the Titleist Oil Hardened driver you took a picture of - I have that driver too, and I prefer it to the MacGregor. I'm sure you could pull a couple of nice fws out of that hoard as well. The Hogans should be solid clubs.

If I offered him 75 bucks for the irons and lets say 1w, 3, and 5w. Would that be fair or low ball?

I want to go back another day so I can look again. He had so much stuff it was hard to take it in.

Having never delt with clubs like this, how much would a complete set of irons go for? How much for the woods go for each or for a set? I would like to help this guy out a little(I dont know and I'm not going to gain anything by him selling them) so any help would be nice on pricing them.

Your best bet on getting benchmark pricing is to look at ebay, esp completed listings.

I don't think $75 is unreasonable for those irons - but it depends how hard you want to push. People do find better bargains - but that's an OK price.

I personally wouldn't pay $40 for the MacGregor driver - but I'd be looking at whether he'd throw in a set of 3 persimmons for maybe a total of $80 or $90.
