Going to Hilton Head in November( need courses)

What are the best courses to play in Hilton Head both private and public tracks welcome.

Hilton Head National and Harbour Town are must plays. National has a few great tracks. Obviously Kiawah island Resort has some awesome courses, including the 8000 yard Ocean Course.

If you don't mind riding north a little bit Bulls Bay is an awesome private track if you can get out. Very unique layout and fun and challenging round.

We are going to be playing both Colleton River courses and the Ford Plantation course. Just looking for a few more good tracks.

They're just off of HHI, but I used to play Crescent Point as well as Eagle's Point in Bluffton, SC nearly every weekend

Hampton Hall in Bluffton is one of my favorites.

Well there is Belfair....36 fazio holes
and there is Berkely Hall next to it....both near Colleton River I think...just off the island
just off Hiltton Head. They are private but in need of some revenue so they might take outside play.

You might try Chechessee Creek....and Old Tabby Links...both private but a phone call might get you on.

And ... there is Old South...just off of HH.....but I havent played it...

Palmetto Dunes - Robert Trent Jones course is always in phenomenal condition. It's also one of the very few courses that has a hole on the ocean (although it is a green and next tee box...doesn't run parallel to the ocean). The George Fazio and Arthur Hills courses are pretty good too, but nowhere near as good as the RTJ course. I've never played Harbour Town, but I've walked the entire course many times following the tour guys at the Heritage and while it is a great course condition wise and has a beautiful finishing hole, I don't know that it would be that much fun to play....unless you enjoy a very tight course that requires a lot of irons and 3 woods off the tee. If that's your cup of tea then you will love it.

Ford's Plantation just did a big renovation. I would definitely quiz them about their conditions before going there, because they seemed a little reluctant to volunteer that information.

Others have mentioned some good tracks. Long Cove, Harbour Town and Colleton River are the best courses in that area (and in that order, IMO). As you prolly know, HT is a resort course, the other 3 are private. Belfair has two nice courses, as does Berkley Hall.

Chechessee Creek and Secession are very good private courses, but a bit of a drive from HHI. Secession has had some problems with conditions and fired their super earlier this year. Old Tabby had their greens redone by the same guy that turned Wexford's greens into a putt-putt course, so I wouldn't shell out to play there. Heck I wouldn't play there again for free.

Heron Point, Palmetto Dunes (Jones), Old South and Hilton Head National are arguably the best public courses in the area. Palmetto Hall offers tee times to the public, but I think I heard something about them doing renovations (which is good--nice course designs but sometimes sketchy conditions).

By the time you get there, the overseed should be well established. Have fun!

I'd play Long Cove and Old Tabby Links before Harbour Town.

Take a day trip and play Melrose and possibly Bloody Point on Daufuskie Island.

played old south in august. one of the best public tracks i've played in the state
