Anyone Tried a Grafalloy Bimatrix tour prototype shaft in a Nike Vr Pro Ltd. Edition driver??****Cha

**Edit- I changed my mind, I traded my nike driver for a Ping I20 10.5 Degree, question is still the same, has anyone tried the bimatrix shaft in a Ping i20??

I have been looking for reviews on the bimatrix shaft, here in one i found.

http://www.golfwrx.c...pe-stiff-shaft/

I ordered a Blue Grafalloy Bimatrix tour prototype X-stiff shaft to put in my Nike Vr Pro Ltd Edition 9.5 degree driver that has a stock Diamana ahina stiff flex shaft in it now. I am able to hit the ball med/high if needed but normally hit a medium flight that looks like it is on a string going up flattens out then drops almost like im putting forward spin on the ball.. the ball doesnt balloon up or anything like that and i get a good roll out as it is now. I was wondering if anyone has tried this setup and how it worked out. I know this shaft is supposed to have a lower flight and would prefer a 10.5 degree head but a 9.5 is all i have for now unless i can find me a 10.5 G20 driver before the weekend. I will post more pics and a review after i install the shaft.

I had the bi matrix as one of the shafts in my driver test. Used it in a covert tour And it launched very high for me. I'm normally a low ball hitter. It's a pretty cool shaft. I think I had a flex too soft. I had a stiff and perhaps should have gone x. My only question was whether tipping even works on this because of the steel at the tip

I dont know, this is only my second driver to ever put a different shaft in, all my other drivers have had the stock shaft in them that they came with. I am trying the Xstiff because i recently build a g15 9 degree with an xstiff Proforce V2 Tour Flight shaft (Purple Shaft) and love it, nice medium high penetrating flight, i no longer fear the left side with that driver. The thing i am worried about with my Nike driver is i hope i dont launch it too low, i guess i will have to try messing with my tee height if that is the case because i tee the ball low out of habbit becasue i used to be a high ball hitter and now that has changed a little.

Thanks, that is what im afraid of..i like the Nike vr head i just may need to try and trade it for a 10.5 degree before i stick the shaft in the 9.5 head..but it really wouldnt be hard to try it and then pull the shaft if it doesnt work out, thats the nice thing about the steel tip.

I have hit the bi matrix in a vr pro ltd head. It was a green x flex. No idea if it was tipped or not but it was not for me. It wasn't launching high enough and I never felt comfortable. It was 75 bucks used at a store and it was practically brand new. Not my favorite setup but could be different for you.

Well plans changed. I got a trade for a Ping i20 10.5 degree driver. I cant wait to try it out. I think it should be a better fit for the shaft.

Well here it is.. has anyone tried the bimatrix in a ping i20 driver?? Funny thing, I think I made a good choice being as when I got home and made a few swings with it in the yard a $10 bill blew into my yard right to my feet!! its crazy and made me think of the movie Joe dirt where he finds $5 haha your my lucky driver!!

I think there is a lot of confusion about the BiMatrx on account of the older version plus the X flex is 15g heavier than the S or R which in essence makes it a different shaft. Grafalloy specifies the shaft as mid flight in their 2013 product specs and trimming guide, but I remember reading that the X is supposedly a low launch shaft. I am currently using a BiMatrix X in a 9.5º Adams Speedline Fast 10 head and just changed the Adams head to a Cleveland Classic Custom XL 7.5º because I just wasn't getting any rollout with the Adams head. I am counting on the Cleveland head providing a more penetrating flight but I just glued it up yesterday so I don't have any results yet. FWIW I have a normal swing speed of 115-120 and hit the ball moderately high in general. I was thinking of replacing the BiMatrx with a low launching shaft but I decided to change the head instead because the BiMatrx is very accurate. I'll take accuracy over distance any day. I don't think the shaft is for everyone though.

I have a BiMatrix X that I have played in a Fast 12 LS. I would not characterize it as a low hitting shaft. I also have a Motore F1 and XCalibur Tour in the same head, and while it's been a while since I've hit the club, I hit the ball higher with the BiMatrix than with the other two shafts (such as I remember, lol).

If the weather holds, might be time to take that club out for a range trip, at least.

The BiMatrix was pretty straight for me, and the steel tip allowed me to play the club at 44½" at my preferred heavier swingweight.

Cool thanks for the replays. I like the heavier weight in most cases although there have been a few clubs I have tried with a light shaft that felt good too but I'm mainly looking to get more accuracy with a medium flight and hope it doesn't spin too much with the i20 10.5 head. Hurry up Friday so I can try it out!!

Have the 80x in my 10.5* vr ltd and absolutely love it. Plays at 44.5 and It is very straight. Usually a low ball hitter but played last week with wet fairways, was getting 275 carry (only reason I know is because ball was leaving a massive ball mark. Can't comment on how much roll I'd get as it was extremely wet. I've always played a low flight driver due to the fun irish winds (amp 9.5 w NV65 tipped and inch) Can't wait to get it out on a nice day though as it'll be a great good weather driver

As I mentioned above, I just swapped an Adams 9.5º head for a Cleveland XL Custom 7.5º head on the BiMatrx and had a chance to hit it today on a very tight course. I am happy with the ball flight in windy (15-20 mph) conditions. With my swing, it seems just about perfect. The first drive I hit with it went 293 into a quartering wind. It looks like the head change was a good one. I think the characteristics that Grafalloy has on their website, that the BiMatrx is a mid launch, is the correct one. At least in the X version. The best characterization of it is a stiff tip, low torque, mid launch shaft. One aspect of the shaft that is apparent is it definitely transmits the feel of the ball hit. If you toe it or heel it or hit it thin just a bit you can definitely tell. I will repeat that I don't think the shaft is for everyone. If you value accuracy or feedback over a few extra yards though give it a go.

i agree with above....i've even gotten hand stingers from it, where i've let go of the club (so tiger of me!) because i caught it on the heel and it went straight up the shaft.

but accuracy has gone up like crazy with it

Got my shaft in, no golf store had time to install it for me other that Dicks Sporting Goods so i took it to them, it took like 40 minutes for the guy to do it, I asked how long he had been doing this kind of stuff and how hard it was because i have never done it and dont have any of the tools either, he said he has been doing it for 4 years..the outcome was horrible, i didnt check it when i left the store because by that time my kids were ready to leave and i didnt think it would be bad so i checked it out at home and this is how it looked.. bottom of the shaft had grind marks all around it epoxy all up and down the shaft, paint ground off the hosel, scratched the club head in a couple spots, looks like the wrong ferrell, i watched him here and there working on it while i was chasing my kids around and say him heating it up a and grinding on it but didnt think anything of it.. took it back to the store the next day and the manager said it looked like crap so he gave me a New i20 driver and cash to pay for a new shaft and the service they charged me for reshafting. Im glad they made it right but it sucks now i have to wait for another shaft to ship..

Dude, that's a rookie job they did on that club. Glad to hear they made it right.

I've hit two of those shafts, X flex. One in a 9.5* j33r 460 and another in a 7.5* Geek DCT. This is absolutely NOT a low launching shaft. Fine shaft though. I use the word fine because there's nothing wrong with it. Nothing great either. I do hope, however, that you find it a perfect fit for what you're looking for and you put a serious hurting down on some drives. You deserve it after getting that club back looking like a drunken beaver attacked it.

I picked up a J40 430 with a stiff bi-matrix. Didn't like it much, too much backspin and I had the lefts. Swapped it out for a stiff ahina 70. For me the ahina reduced the spin, launch angle and was easier to keep in play. I did like the feel of the bi-matrix, maybe the X would be better. I normally am between an S and an X flex and I believe you're not supposed to tip a bi-matrix.

I think i may try and trade this new stiff flex i20 10.5 back for a 9.5 degree. I got to play a round with it today and i feel like it will be a very high launching club plus I kept hooking it. when i switched back to my G15 with the x-stiff shaft and i didnt have any problems. Cant wait the new shaft will be here tomorrow and should get it installed then also by someone i trust this time.

Sorry i didnt get to keep it. No distortion in the pics, the ferrule was either heated too much and melted or its just the wrong one.
Wow! What a hack job. It looks to me like the shaft isn't centered either, although that could be the ferrule or camera distortion. At least the manager is making it right.

If you still have the shaft and want to sell it, I may be interested in it.

I found that lower lofts with Ping are usually a good idea. That 10.5 is probably a 12 anyway! Good luck!

All went well this time around getting the shaft installed. Cant wait for it to set up so i can take it out and give it a whirl. I also bought a G20 9.5 degree for a good price so if this shaft works out I just might get another on to put in the G20.

I ordered one, maybe here today, but raining anyway, the plan is to put this in a Nike Covert. This gives me the ability to loft up (oops, TMag slogan) and still kill the spin that the additional loft will add. I may have something worth reporting the first of next week.

Hey guys,

Here is my problem. Looking for feedback on whether this might be a good solution...

Currently play a Titleist 910 D3 with a made for S flex Ahina stock 45" length. I find the shaft lacks feel, is a bit light at 60ish grams, and I never get the sense that it's loading. I used to have a 983E with an S300 in it that I loved the feel of. For me, feeling the shaft flex really helps me with tempo. The S300 was likely a bit weak for my swing but I'd like to make a switch to get me something with some feel to it. I'm considering getting an X100 installed into the Titleist tip and going with that in my 910...

Obviously, I'm also wondering about the Bimatrix. Would this thing give me some of the feel I want with an overall low torque, stiff tip? My SS is usually in the 112-113 range but I can dial it up to about 116-117 when I want a little extra. Good player with a very smoothe swing. From some of the reviews I've read, the X-Flex Bimatrix might fit me better because it's a bit heavier and the Stiff is apparently "noodley" and maybe too soft? Can anyone with experience with this shaft comment?

The more ideal situation would be trying it out both but my local golf store doesn't carry them. WOuld have to order it in which requires buying it first.

Guys, My current shaft feels whippy and horribly shape shifting when I want to produce a draw. It never draws, only produces awful hooks. I have no problem producing draws or fades with my X100 shafts in my irons. Thinking to switch to an x flex bimatrix from an x flex 7m3 black tie. Will this bimatrix shaft feel stiffer in the butt and tip? Height or launch dont matter because I can adjust it, but accuracy sucks with my 7m3(too soft) Maybe I should have gone with the xx flex? Pls help me because I am only struggling with my driver.
