Just a little eye candy for you guys

Can you share with us what the stampings after the Miura represent?

There's a reverse k type and one other that are circled.

Curious as to what they actually stand for.

There are 2 small circles after the Miura stamping....the first is SL in a small circle and designates that they are conforming "Score Lines" or grooves..........the second on is a K in a circle and designates that Miura San, himself, did the grinding on those heads....Read as Custom ground.

I've had a chance to demo the MB001 now -- although unfortunately not with my shaft of choice -- so I thought I'd add a few random thoughts...

They're beauties -- no surprise there -- right in the Miura blade tradition, in both colors. Size-wise, FLOG sums up well with the 1-2-3 distinctions. But there are a couple of subtleties that i think are worth mentioning.

At address, the topline on these appears thinner than the TB's, and I think this is because the muscle is actually smaller on the back than the TB's muscle (thinner actually). For me, this gives the look and feel of a more slender club. I think the main difference from the TB comes in the taller height near the hosel. I guess this is what they're calling a "more upright look" at address.

Then another big difference is there is noticeable relief on the leading edge of the sole, and the overall width of the sole is smaller than the TB.

All these qualities are, I believe, consistent with the Y-grind influence of son Yoshi's designs. I use two of the Y-grind wedges, and like this feel a lot, but users of the TB's should know that it is substantially different. Overall, the TB has a more muscular feel to me, a thicker feel if that makes sense. The Miura crispness is still there, but the feel is (again, for me) thinner somehow.

All in all, another wonderful design contribution that I think only adds to the lineup, but depending on what one prefers, substantially different from previous blade offerings.

Interesting.

I'm not sure I like the sound of "thinner feeling". I want it to feel heavy or solid, not thin...

Try hitting the recoil prototypes with whatever head you get if you are thinking about aero techs. I put some tour spx recoils in a new set of Muiras and they are crazy good for me. Dumped a set of scratch TD flat backs that had been in the bag for 3 years....

Saw those on a Japanese aught. Can get the heads for about 800 new. You like those a lot?? They sure look cool!

I think you should get the mb001s with PXIs or PXs.

The baby blades, while cool, are just kind of awkward. I don't know how else to say that, I bet they're great for smoothing on the range but do you really want to be looking at that head trying to hit a knock down 4 into a headwind on a cold day?

The TBs are awesome but we've both had a set of those already, get something different!

As far as shafts go, get what you've been talking about, something stout you feel like you can control, and if you want to go with something that will be easier on the joints and tendons just bring out the 64s with recoils.

Know what you should do? Get the miura blades, keep the 64s, and get a set of shovels. Then you'll have all these things in the closet for when something different tickles your fancy.
"get" a set if shovels? What about the Taylor's with proto aldila's? Or the precepts? Or the s56? Or the eye 2? Or the 825 pros? Hell, even the 64's are big compared to the 68's, fg62's, and hogans!

How many shovels do I need?

Haha! God I have issues!!

You could go really old school and get a set of Tommy Armor 845s. You could then get on here and brag about hitting 200 yard 8 irons....I still don't think I've ever seen longer hitting irons.

I ordered one 1007 y grind 6 iron to demo. We'll see.
Curious to see what you think of that. I've got a set with KBS Tours. And some MP-64's. IMO the 1007 Y is a little more "solid" feeling, the 64 a little softer. 64 more forgiving to me, wanna see what you think.

Thought this would be helpful comparison of the Y grind to the specs of the Miura blades. the middle iron from the address/toe shot pics is a scratch flatback that was built to the exact specs of my old baby blade set. The other scratch TD iron was built to the same specs but in a larger head. The Y grind is much closer to address to the blade than the AR cavity built to the same specs...
