Maybe it's just me, but I have really noticed that since the begining of the year Nick has really improved his commentary, sounds much more relaxed, and is turning out to be a real joy to listen too. What does everyone else think?

I think he does a very good job. I tend to think Kraig Kann would have been a better fit for Kelly's job, but overall I'm happy. I also love that I don't have to watch tape delay on the west coast.

I have always loved Faldo...as a player, instuctor, etc.

 

It is nice to listen to someone who knows what they are talking about for once.

Faldo is a knowledgable, succesful player.

He is criticised by many to be boring but I have met him person and he is a delightfull gentleman.

He had a lot of guts to dissapear for three years, like Tiger, and then to come back all guns blazing and win 6 majors is a huge achievement.

he is a tremendous competitor too, a perfect example is when he grinded out 18 pars in tough conditions to win the open at Muirfield which is one tricky course in perfect conditions but in the wind it is a real battle!

I would argue that he was a greater competitor in tough conditions than Tiger.

I agree, and also nice to have a former PGA "Character" who vocally promotes guys to show more emotion to have a personality, he has such a good repour with the current players, I find it very interesting to hear him talk about them he obviouslly has a very good insight to there game on a real level, as well as being able to relate to just about every situation out there, he has been there, and done allot. He's not afraid to tell it like it is or take the piss on someone, he was a very real person as a golfer, and same goes as an announcer.

Faldo's terrific. Knowledgeable, smooth, witty, candid. And he's getting better. Who would have believed it coming from a guy who never smiled on the course? But, really, the sourpuss Faldo was only in his prime. As ths career started to wind down he seemed to take everything a lot less seriously. He was quite animated and personable at the Bethpage Open....really played to the crowd. Seems like a good guy. I wish him well!

 

 

 

And 6 majors ain't bad, either. :rolleyes:

I think the Golf Channel as a whole is doing a great job!! I love being able to catch the late night replay so I don't miss anything while I am at work. Now only if the Masters would give us more coverage life would be perfect!

i love faldo, mostly as a hard nosed player but also as a commentator and i second the praise for TGC on their coverage.

 

my only complaint is his overuse of the phrase "career up and down" every time someone is short sided or in a steep bunker. relax Nick. its just one shot.

I've certainly started to enjoy Faldo a bit more than at the start of the season, but TGC's camera work isn't quite up to par. I've seen too many shots where a player hits the ball and there is no follow up on where it went. Pretty shoddy if ya ask me.

First of all, I love Nick Faldo. I wish Azinger was still calling golf as well, but Kelly Tilghman forces me to turn the volume off. Look, I am not a big Tiger fan, but he is the best. Tilghman makes sure we know whos the best and who she is rooting for with every little thing Tiger does. It makes me want to vomit. By all means root for exciting golf, but she doesnt get as excited if Phil, Vijay or Ernie are playing spectacular.

Faldo is much better with the CBS guys on the weekend. I think he feels he has to try to be funny or something to make up for Kelly's constant inane blubbering. Replace her with Kraig and he would be as good as he is on CBS. It is hard to think of anyone worse. Dotty Pepper, Mary Bryan, Judy Rankin are all very competent female announcers and could do (and have done) a much better job than Kelly .

 

Put Kelly back between the two twits on grey goose.

i really enjoy listening to faldo but they need to dump kelly! not only is se an awful commentator, she knows nothing and offers no insight whatsoever. I hate listening to johnny miller and a little part of me has just died typng this but even he could do a better job!

Nick needs a job his golf is behind him and I think his personnel life is expensive!!

 

I think he was as close to the modern Ben Hogan as you will ever get!! when he was at top with his game.

 

Very smart player HIGH IQ when playing tough golf courses i was at Beth Page and where he finished and how short he hit was amazing..-I was drunk but I was coherent enough to comprehend how tough that coures was..
