Membership Question

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

Been a member of a Sydney golf club for 4 months and have been injured for a fair amount of that time. Came back to playing about a month ago and the last two weeks I have not been able to get a round in the Saturday comp when booking early in the week due to the course being booked out. I know the other courses I play at always have openings for comp entries but I have to pay between 35-$130 extra when I have already paid for membership at my home course. I am a bit annoyed.

What do you guys think about this? Should I just harden up?

Are other members having the same issue? If so maybe get a group together to talk with the pro and try to come up with a solution. Sounds like others are either booking times way in advance or the course has sold too many memberships. We have a similar problem at my course and this year we are limiting guest play on weekends.

They have been booked out for the last two Saturday comps so other members would be getting rejected as well. I would like to go to another club that doesn't have these issues, I don't want to pay full fees at another course just because I cannot get a round

Thanks guys

How can they let a comp be booked out? Surely they can just tag extra times onto the back of it. We just let players roll up after the drawn times and enter the comp in whatever group they want so long as they sign in in the shop and the pro knows what the group is and at what time they go out.

I really don't know, I didn't think the course was that popular. I regret my decision to become a member there.

Probably best to put something like that in a PM if you care, never know who is reading a public messageboard

I wouldn't say the name of the course on a open forum. I don't think that is fair.

There are some really good value for money memberships available in Sydney.

My first choice in Western Sydney would be Twinn creeks however it is hard to justify the membership costs to your partner. I think they are down to around $2300.00 AUD

Glenmore Heritage is a fun course and can be challenging if you are short or off your driving game, some long holes that require some shape in your drive, water hazards and well placed bunkers make the game a little more interesting. Being a long driver of the ball, I have found that the hazards are well placed to punish you for not controlling the length of your drive whilst other holes reward me for punching it down the middle long or playing good length with shape. This would be my pick for value for money at around $1100 per year

Plenty of others that are set up well.

I may have put in a complaint to the boss of the club.... Next day they have a spot open up for this week.

In the States, you could have lost your job over this remark. :cheesy:
