Long Island Golfers

Winter just started but already dreaming about the Spring. Moved up here a few years ago and I typically just show up to either Eisenhower or Bethpage and go out as a single. This year would not mind trying to organize or even join a regular group of players to get a routine going. Bit of a rant but figured it wouldn't hurt to try to find a group, join a league, or just try to assemble a group of WRX members in the area to get some regular games going.

I'd be interested in doing something. From what I can tell, there really isn't an established league on LI.

Right on. Does BH have weekend memberships? Out in Riverhead area most weekends during summer and would love to have a place to play

I'm in, can easily get from NYC to my mother-in-law's in the Glen Cove area on the weekends. Usually end up playing Harbor Links because of the convenience, but definitely open to a short drive and some variety.

anybody been out to crab meadow this season? i have a tee time sunday but the website says walking only, called them and it says "carts only cash only" on the machine

Anyone know of courses that will be open this weekend? The only snow left in Long Beach is from the massive piles the plows made and they are few and far between. It's supposed to be around 50 this weekend. My first thought was Bethpage but their super tweeted out it was unlikely any course would open.

I was thinking Lido? Does anyone know any courses that could be open Sunday?

ive been on the same search as well. im pretty sure lido stays open year round weather permitting but you might not get an answer till closer to the weekend. i think peninsula golf club stays open year round as well but im not sure of its status. if all else fails, the north woodmere 9 hole muni will probably be open. its not the greatest track but it may scratch the itch.

I'll call tomorrow or drive by Lido Saturday. Merrick 9 hole will also have to suffice I guess.

I think Eisenhower White and Blue are open year round.

Montauk downs open year round as well

I guess I'm looking for the difference between courses being open year round, and courses being open this coming weekend.

Bethpage Yellow is open year round, but they won't open this weekend because they are still thawing out (according to their Super on twitter.) But they can be open early next week (too late for me).

I'll call Eisenhower and some other courses tomorrow and report back.

Closed all weekend, bummer but understandable.

Looks like all the Manorville courses are open. Swan Lake, Pine Hills, Rock Hill. I'm playing Swan Lake tomorrow. :) Nice and easy and open. Winter golf for rusty swing. Yay.

I’ll be following this thread. Won’t be back to LI until May, but would love to see a WRX game over the spring/summer.

Being newly retired, I play any day during the week, mostly at either Smithtown Landing or Brentwood.

First tee times at 6 am!

How can that be good for the courses? I have to imagine they are sacrificing conditions in the spring for a quick buck now.

I assumed if they were open that there wasn't ice on the greens.

FYI - Montauk downs also has all the new fitting carts with demos, callaway, titleist, ping, taylor made and shaft options

I was thinking that too. The greens will / is abused when its iced up like this. But apparently they haven't closed all season. *shrug*. During regular season, their greens seems good, but their greens are huge. Many GIRS which makes all happy.. even though you're like 30 feet away.. haha

That seems typical for swan lake. It’s all about revenue! Just wait for the regular season and 6 hr rounds!!!???

any idea if they do demo days or free fittings?
