Question about bending Ping Crossover

Hey folks - i've got a ping crossover 4 which I've reshafted with Ping CFS to match my irons. Problem is that its 3* stronger than my old 4 iron, and the design of the club means that it absolutely bombs the ball about 25y longer than my i25 4 iron.

Has anyone had any luck getting Ping to bend the loft of these, or bending it themselves? How far can they be bent? I asked someone else and they said that the topline of this model is prone to being crushed using a traditional loft/lie bending approach

The only complicating factor is that the finish of the club has been sanded off - will Ping say no because of this? I understand the warranty is probably voided by the sanding, but will they also turn away a repair because of that?

I had mine sent back to Ping to go 2.25º on lie angle (3 color codes). Left loft the same but could have bent that a degree weaker and decided to take the extra distance and leave it alone. The club builder at my club was not comfortable bending it himself so we sent it back. I think it was $25.

The "i" line of clubs really lacks distance. I'd suggest leaving the loft/distance alone on your crossover, and making your 4 iron about 2º stronger to get another ~6 yards out of it, and your 5 iron about 1º stronger to get another ~3 yards out of it to manage those gaps a little better. Anyone can bend those.

Due to the hollow head construction, you need a special mechanism to bend- have to send it back to Ping or you'll crack the head!

I have a Mitchell Steel Angle machine and have bent mine 4º flatter with no problem whatsoever. Bent easy peasy.

As for loft I believe that you would be only changing the face angle and/or raising the leading edge up from horizontal a tad. Might make it more difficult to hit properly.

Do you think they will adjust the loft after i've refinished the head myself? Don't care about a warranty, just want to add 2* of loft. Thanks

I bent mine on my mitchell machine without issue. It actually bent very easily.

The club is held in place by a rubber coated clamp on the crown and adjustable feet on the sole directly above and below the face of the club. No pressure behind the face on the back side of the crown.
