I know what you're thinking..."surely he didn't use a shaft review as an opportunity for a photo shoot?"

Yes I did. So let's get into the review :)

Was able to spend some time hitting the Accra Tour Z RPG 472 M5+ a little sooner than expected!

Talk about an outstanding shaft. So my understanding is the 400 series is the newer iteration (played by Woodland and maybe Finau also?) and is the lower launching brother to the 300 series (red color). Essentially 472 means "4 - Low Launch" and 72grams. M5+ is extra stiff and I have mine tipped 1.5"

Plugged into a Ping G400 LST 8.5* Head @ +.6* Loft (so 9.1 and ever so slightly closed)

I think a golf shaft should be broken down into smoothness, load, aesthetics, overall feel, and performance (launch, spin, etc. fall under performance).

Smoothness: 8/10

  • The Tour Z RPG, for all intents and purposes, should be a harsh feeling shaft. Especially being a low launch/low spin shaft that's X Flex and tipped 1.5". But it honestly feels like a Graphite Design shaft (smoother one like AD DI or AD TP - not P9003). Perhaps all Accra feel this way as I haven't owned one before, but I was extremely surprised. I think after owning this, Accra, Oban, and Graphite Design make the smoothest feeling shafts available.

Load: 8.5/10

  • The linear, or full body loading of the Tensei Pro Orange is the closest thing I can compare this shaft to. I believe the kickpoint is low-mid, but there's no defined area where you feel the shaft loading. It just find of feel like you get a slight amount of load throughout the entire shaft, which is great because there's no mindset of needing to hold it off or flip it to try and match up with the release.

Aesthetics: 8/10

  • Looks super sharp w/ the two-tone of blue and silver. Photos don't do it justice, but it definitely has a brighter plated look to the shaft (but not reflective or distracting). I could live without the black band in the middle of the shaft designating the weight and flex, but it's not anything I'd get too concerned about either.

Overall Feel: 9/10

  • Think juiced up blueboard when you look for the overall feel of this shaft. If you take the renowned smoothness and feel of a blueboard, and packed some muscle and tightness into it, you'd have the Tour Z RPG. I hit about 10 shots @ 110 mph and it felt great. Then I hit about 10 shots at 118-120 mph and it felt great. The only other shaft I've hit that can go super high speed or moderate and still feel great is the KuroKage Dual Core XT.

Performance: 9/10

  • I hit approximately 40 shots w/ the Tour Z RPG on GCQuad using Srixon ZStar golf balls. My average swing speed came in at 117.6 mph w/ average ball speed at 174.2. I was really grooving a swing right from the get go w/ this shaft. I caught a few toe side and a few heel side and dispersion wasn't near as bad as I'm used to on those - not sure if you can attribute this to the low torque of the shaft? Regardless I feel really confident in this driver now.

Damn you/your swing really does look like koepka....

That's exactly what I thought when I saw the pictures! Glad you've found a shaft that works so well for you. I have too with the X-torsion Copper.
