cool and theyre not that expensive either.handy if youre livin somewhere where there is heavy snow in the winter and theres no-where to practise

Those are cool. My girlfriend bought me one a couple of months ago. The company states it stimps out @11.

Looks nice. But the problem I have with most of these is that when you use them on carpet they tend to bunch up when you are standing on them. With mine, which is about 3' wide, I can't really stand on it while putting and even an 8' to 9' length is not really enough to play around with a variety of chips.

Still I break mine out every night, as some practice is better than no practice.

Next time I think I will go bigger, check out some of the ones at intheholegolf.com. The biggest is 6' x 60', but I think a 6' x 15' would be great for in the home practice.

I looked at that, but you have to putt uphill to the hole which really defeats what I am looking for.

Does anyone think that there is any benefit to using a putting mat vs. just putting to a cup on the living room carpet? I have short berber carpet and it seems to be a good speed to practice on. I had been looking at putting mats, but thought that the living room was just as good, even though it's beige instead of green! :cheesy:

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing! I putt on my rug in my room, which makes for about an 11 foot putt. I can also use my family room where I can try 20 foot putts. The family room rug rolls more true and is about the same speed as a green. My room's carpet is a little longer, so it's a little slower than the family room, but still good for practice. I just cut out a piece of paper the exact dimentions of a hole, laminated it, put it on the ground, and putt to it. I've used the same "hole" for a year now. Thing that shys me away from these practice rugs is their length and how easily the rug gets folds in it. Also, at the end your ball has to roll up a hill to make it to the cup, which means you have to hit it harder than you would for a putt of the same length on a golf course.

I think I'll save the money to put towards some balls. That rug has got nothin over my rugs! (I'm hugging the floor as I type).

I try to do half my putts on the mat, and the other half on the carpet. Just to get a feel for different speeds.

both those mats are pretty cool !

Funny, I've found the same thing. my carpet in the living room is the best for putting. True roll and fast. Better then any putting green I've tried.
