M3 driver sounds tinny

I have had my M3 a while now. One of the many reasons I bought it was because I loved the muted sound but when I play with the weights and/or loft have any of you found it alters the sound? It sounds very tinny at the moment and it's grinding on me. Ball flight/distance isn't an issue, strictly a sound issue.

I'm not sure whether it's the less than average RIP shaft that I have in it or something else. There's no cracks, weights are tight and all screws checked.

Moving weights can definitely change the sound, altering loft shouldn't however.

Changing weight position can impact how and where the head vibrates/resonates which can affect the sound. If you were to hypothetically fill up the tracks with weights then the head would sound much more dull and thwacky. The opposite would be true with no weights.

If there is a position you think it sounds best then you could have a club builder add a couple grams of hotmelt to that/those locations and then freely move the weights around for desired performance from there.

And if you don't want to deal with hotmelt, even a gram or two of lead tape in the right place can do wonders for muting the sound of a driver.

I found on my M3 440 that is sounds a little tinny with both weights forward. It wasn't that bad though. I started adjusting weights and ended up with one all the way forward and one back in fade and it sounds much more muted. It was a win win cause the driver is performing better in that setup and it sounds much better!

True, I inadvertently learned this as well with a couple Titleist drivers. And with the weight tracks on the M-series TM heads it is much easier to hide tape discretely.

Lead tape is a gift from the golf gods and should be flaunted - not hidden - or else you risk offending them.
