Replacing Diablo Forged Irons

After 9 years with the Diablo Forged irons, I am considering replacing them. Looking to get a bit more distance, but more consistent distances off the face, especially higher irons.

Problem is, there are not a ton of quality golf shops in the area that offer a variety of options, outside the major OEMs.

Any suggestions on brands and models I should try? Does not have to be forged but I still want something that has a nice feel on impact. There seems to be so many great options, but limited in this area.

Thanks in advance.

The diablo forged irons were a wonderful set of irons other than the BF ugly and cheap looking cavity. A set that plays similar to me but with a great makeover is the CF16 Apex irons or even better if you are a decent ball striker, the cf16 apex combo irons. Callaway preowned during promotional sales is a great option. I still prefer the 16s to the new Apex and they are significantly cheaper.

I played DF's some years ago. Great irons. Not sure why I even got rid of them. Of the current offerings (that I have hit), the Srixon 585's seem to be a lot like the DF's. Very long, forgiving and pretty consistent. The right shafts are important though. The trend is to go lighter for higher swing speed/more distance. That may or may not suit you coming from an older set.

I have heard a lot of good things about the Srixon's 585s

I played the DFs for a couple years and moved to the CF16s. Distance about a club longer but still had the occasional fliers like I had with the DFs - especially with the cup face irons. Recently moved to X-Forged 18 irons. Maybe a half a club shorter than CF16 with more spin and higher launch. X-forged 18 are also much better than both CF16 and DF in terms of looks, feel and consistency. I used the same shafts in all 3 sets.

I went from the Diablo Forged to the Mizuno JPX-900's. Very easy transition! The Mizuno's are much more forgiving off of the toe, and I don't tend to miss as far left with them either.

Mizuno CLK Hybrid (19 and 22 degree, I swap them out depending on the wind in the parking lot)

Whoa, throw back.......I loved my DFs so much, what an awesome set of irons they were. That being said, I found the Apex were very very similar in looks (minus the wonky flames lol) and seemed to me to clean up the occasional hot spot the DF had.

I ended up going going from them, to the Els A tour Adams which I found to be very good as well and similar. I then went from those to my JPX 900 forgeds, which are excellent irons.

if consistent distance is paramount to you in the short irons then you definately want to try the combo Apex. I don't have any of the occasional flyers with my short clubs that I used to have with the standard Apex short irons. Plus the feel is wonderful and forgiveness is more than adequate in the 8-AW.
