PGA Top Players Swing Coach $

I wonder if any of you know what a typical tour player pays their swing coach? Do the top tier guy’s keep them on retainer? Do they pay an annual salary? Or do they pay a percentage of their winnings? Or do they pay just for individual lessons? What would be weird to me, is the Tour Guy who’s had his Coach since he was young, and then makes it Big Time. Does he at some point raise what he’s paying his Coach? I’m guessing it can be all over the map, but share what you know.

This led me to add a corollary to my offer: If the player leaves my camp, for any reason whatsoever, and doesn't leave a token bit of compensation in place, said player cannot come back. This happened several years ago with a very good player I was helping. A Ryder Cupper who became top 50 in the world. The player's agent rang me one day to say his player was going to "do his own thing," was leaving and choosing not to keep a bit for me intact. I warned that said player couldn't come back. Some time later, the player's performance declined. The agent phoned me, asking if I would begin working with his player again. To that I said, "You obviously weren't listening." I couldn't take the player back. But good luck to him. He's a nice lad, and still a good player.

grm24, interesting article and approach from Pete Cowen! The article kind of implies that his approach and fee structure is unique. Very curious about some of the other big name Swing Coaches. Pete keeps an annuity going!

Could be, but he likes him and Danny got higher than top 50. Guessing someone who didn’t rise all that high maybe he didn’t want back anyway.

But it was a Ryder Cup player, and that narrows it considerably.

My guess is, whoever said Willet got it right.
