Sabertooth vs. 2-Ball vs. Tri-Ball

Opinions/Feedback Please
Hey guys,
Well I'm looking for a new putter. I just sold my Studio Select. I'm looking at the Odyssey Sabertooth, 2-Ball's, and Tri-Ball. I am needing something that is easy to line up and keep on path. I really struggled with the Studio Select inside five foot.

I had a White Steel 2-Ball for a while last year. I really liked the putter, but as usual, sold it. So any help and feedback would be greatly appreciated!

All three putters are high MOI face balanced ones. They also have the same insert so will probably feel the same. It would just come down to what alignment aid you prefer better, and maybe to a lesser extent the putter head weight since I am not sure if they are all the same but you can sort of derive it by comparing it in a swingweight scale.

I just went from my Callie-f to a 2-Ball White Steel Blade (Plumber Neck) for the same reason. Inside 5 feet, it's ridiculously easy to align, and still have feel on longer putts.

Another fan of the Sabertooth here, simple fact is I make more putts around the 6 foot mark with this putter than my old Yes abbie forged blade. It just wants to rock forwards and backwards and is by far the most stable putter I have ever hit. Roll is excellent and thats coming from a big fan of the yes putters!.

Thanks guys for all the replies. I was pretty much determined to go back to the 2-Ball route, but after hearing several plugs for the Sabertooth, I'm interested. So the alignment is still great with the Sabertooth? That is my only concern.

You are the only one who can answer that question. Go to a golf shop and compare them side by side, or if you can't then google some pictures at address of the putters. Then decide for yourself what fits your eye best.

I have the Sabretooth and find the alignment to be quite good. The two straight inner prongs provide nice alignment aids which I use to frame the black line I mark on my balll for lining up putts. I was even thinking of painting them white to further enhance alignment.

I personally don´t like the 3-Ball it´s way too big. The 2-Ball SRT is a great putter and very easy to align and the balance of this putter is just great!

I just bought an Odyssey White Hot XG #7 and really love it, I never had a putter that is easier to align and keep the ball on that line. I didn´t try the Sabertooth yet, but it looks a little bit too funky for me. Maybe oyu could give the #7 a try also, I´m glad I did.

I agree a two ball srt is a great putter, but like someone else said it how they fit the eye, I myself prefer the 2 ball blade as I find that the T it forms along with the 2 ball alignment provide the easiest alignnment for me. Was not a fan of the previous inserts but I really like the feel on the XG now (firmer than white hot but not clicky like the white steel and not as dead as the SRT).

I have a Sabertooth that I use sometimes. I also painted the sight lines on top white. That looks better to me. It is the MOST stable thing I've ever had in my hands within 6 feet. I really like my Studio Select Newport, but when I'm in a slump the Sabertooth straightens things out. (Don't ask....it's a mental thing) My only beef with the Sabertooth is the soft insert. I wish it was a little bit firmer, like the ones in the black series. If they ever come out with that combo, it should sell great. It's a great feeling putter, but you should get your hands on one in person. You must decide for yourself if the look is something you can handle. Also, make sure the grip is on straight. Odyssey is notorious for crooked grips. That might influence your decision making (if you're missing putts inside the store). Good luck with the decision!

  • 4 weeks later...

Since picking up a Tri-Ball SRT, my average putts per round have basically halved! Very hard to miss with this putter, both long or short.

It has a massive head! My wife has a vision impairment, and she loves it. She can actually see the putter-head for once.

So, now I need to aquire another.
