8802 Prototype?

I like the Winn grip, Rifle shaft and ferrule.... :lol:

I have the exact same putter, but mine is brand new. Bought it on the bay for like $15 with shipping LOL. I will happily sell it for $200 if someone wants it. :to_become_senile:

yep, me too. except i bought mine off that putter website. its kinda like a little ebay site that only sells putters (cant remember the name of it). i think mine was $15 too

no, that was a bad description on my part, sorry. its a website that people sell their used putters on, but i cant remember the name of it. i can probably find it if i looked thru my "favorites" on my computer, but that will take a long time...

I'm no expert on the 8802's...but based on the higher than normal price, his ability to accept "new" ebayer's, which seems to mean he'll take anyone's money, and the fact that he states that he won't necessarily return e-mails due to his "full time job", I'd steer clear of this one.

found the website i bought the $15 "8802" look-a-like on. it was www.golfputterclassics.com. but there arent any of them up right now

I emailed him this morning and told him it was a cheapo to see what he would say. Haven't received a response yet.

The real 8802 prototype did indeed have a ferrule. It was made by Arnold Palmer from a MacGregor Iron Master (IMG5) putter that he had. Palmer had grounded the head to the shape he wanted and added metal for additional weight. I believe Mr. Palmer still has that putter and I am certain that there is no stamp of 8802 on the sole. The fact is that the 8802 designation came after Palmer left Wilson to start his own company and the "Arnold Palmer and "Designed by Arnold Palmer models became the 8802.
