If I got the black series could I do this??

Im thinking about getting a black series i or the original black series. I personally am very very very picky about my putter and I dont really like how the tungsten weight on the back doesnt match the putter color. Could I send it to black oxide and somehow get it to match by torching it or some other finish. HELP!

With the insert though they dont warranty anything on it. so if something happens your out a ton!

sorry to burst your bubble, but the last 2 black series I've sent, they wouldn't do anything with the finish on the tungsten weight.

Black Oxide won't change the tungsten. I had a Black #2 oil canned, looked sweet but tungsten stayed the same (check my WITB for pictures).

I also checked with LaMont on a different one, he said he would try to apply the black polymer finish but couldn't guarantee the finish to stay on it. It needs to be glass bead blasted first for his finish to stick and because tungsten is so hard, that would become a problem.

Bottom line...tungsten is very hard, very brittle, and in my assumption exactly why odyssey didn't do something different with it in the first place. Because it just plain didn't make sense, wasn't cost effective, or worth the extra risk.

I love the Black Series line (non insert), owned 3 of them and wanted to customize to my likings but ended up selling them all. I wish they could be changed, but it's just not worth it in my opinion.

I'm not sure if this is true but I had asked the Odyssey a question regarding the tungsten metal on my Black #2 before. My question was that a magnet stuck to the tungsten part and my understanding was that iron was the only metal that's supposed to stick to the magnet. Pure tungsten should not stick to the magnet. The Oddyssey's answer was that the "tungsten" used on the black series is "their proprietary metal" and that it is a "composition," from which I gather that it's NOT pure tungsten.

I posted on another post, YES......you can do that weight ANY tone to match the head without any type of paint. Here is one that is in progress that is TWO-TONED! You could also do the entire putter the color of the slot and weight if you wanted, but that would be B O R I N G :)
