I have not played with the Lamkin grips but the Tour Velvet Cord is my favorite grip. I have them on my wedges and 3 wood (a GP Dual Durometer full cord on my driver) and New Decades on my irons. I ordered my new Bridgestone irons with Tour Velvet Cord grips and intend to use these grips on all of my clubs. I rough them up with some 180-grit sandpaper to bring the cord out and fuzz it up. The rubber is not tacky, they have a firm feel, and the cord provides great texture and confidence in your hands. I think the only maintenance they really need is to have the cord roughed up again once in a while as it gets dirty.

The Lamkin Crossline cord is roughed up already without having to sand them. The cord is already pretty course in the Lamkin. Comparing apples to apples off the rack, the Crossline is rougher. Also, I think the rubber composition is a little softer in the Lamkin, which accentuates the cord (if that makes any sense). The Lamkin feels a little bit larger to me (standard size) than the GP TV cord. It's like the shape is different at the butt end. I prefer the Lamkin of those 2, but I use the GP Multi-compound on all my clubs.

I've always preferred the Lamkin Cords, like the rough feeling of them. I just got a set of 13 of them on eBay for a price I really couldn't miss out on. Even though they arent the colour I would preferably want (would rather the standard black and white), but I thought i'd pull the trigger on them, Midsize 'n all :)

I find Tour Velvet Cords to be a bit harsh on the hands. Just got a set of Lamkin Tour Cords and they much nicer feeling then the normal Crossline ones and the Velvets. I haven't seen any of the Golf Pride BCT ones yet but imagine these Lamkin Tours are quite comparable to them. Only bad point is the £10 a grip price tag.

I prefer the soft, fuzzy comfort of the GP TV Cord over the Lamkin for irons and woods (2 wraps). I have the DD2s (Midsize) on my wedges. I tried the Lamkin Cord first and they didn't absorb moisture as well and felt harsh in my hands.

I just went the other way - from Lamkin Crossline Tour Cords to Golf Pride Tour Wrap Cords. Not the same I know but one thing I wanted to point out is that Golf Pride just changed all their cord grips this year. They're now called the BCT cord with a softer rubber compound and a cord material with a tighter weave. I always thought the old Tour Velvet Cords were kind of hard feeling after awhile compared to the Lamkins but the new ones are nicer. I have a new Tour Velvet BCT cord on my hybrid that I was using as a test grip before I made up my mind. They're both great grips, just take a look at the new Golf Prides before you make up your mind.

BTW, one thing I noticed when I was changing my grips out was the Lamkins were actually shorter than the Golf Prides. By 3/4" or so. I don't know if it is just on the Crossline Tour Cords that I had on there or whether all Lamkins are that way. It sort of makes the club look funny after you notice it for the first time.
