Pretty sure they can officially WD or just get DQed if they don't make their tee time.

I'm kinda curious how the scorecard attesting / marker thing works if a group is on 18 and some of the group decide not to finish out the hole after darkness is called. Do the players who finish out the hole who are keeping score for players who have to come back early to finish the hole have to come back also or do they just hand the card off to the marker when they leave the course after Friday?

Do scorecards get transferred to markers who finish out the round for players who decide WD instead of coming back in the morning just to miss the cut?

Anyway not sure if those questions make any sense because I've never really known how scoring works in tournament golf at this level.

I'm also kinda curious about the process for when a player has to finish a round the next day. What do they do with ball on the course? Mark it and groundspeople mow around it? Do they even mow everyday during a tournament? What happens if the marker gets stolen or picked up by an animal?

So many questions!

Many good questions. Most balls marked overnight will be marked with three tees.

Where O is the ball and t are tees. If on the green the crew will usually put a very small paint mark where the ball belongs then cut the green and put the tees back. The paint is usually wiped off during this process.

Few players will decide not to finish the hole they are on so it's usually a moot point.

When the player arrives in the morning th key will find their tees in the same position they left them in.

In the event someone doesn't show up, the player they were marking for usually shoots 3-6 shots lower than actual. (Kidding)

Looked at the leaderboard again today and only 3 WD's, so looks like almost everyone came back and finished. There must be a penalty if you DQ or WD even in this situation or so many of them wouldn't have come back for a few holes with no chance of making the cut. I know they can get in big trouble if they don't play in a pro-am.
