Got some global golf store credit and the bag is pretty much set for the year (yeah right) anyway I have been playing with the callaway xhot 3 wood since it came out and was wondering if upgrading to the 2016 m2 or the Callaway XR would actually give me anything or should I stick with old faithful (usually around 240-250 down the middle)

Like everyone I guess hoping to gain some more distance truth be told it’s my driver half the time, I fight a terrible slice with the drive but don’t with the 3 wood for some reason!

I played a xhot pro 4 wood switched to a alpha 816 4 wood and picked up a few yards. I tried the m2 but the lie angle was too upright.

If I remember correctly, the x hot were pretty long and if it's working I doubt there's a 3 wood that would be noticably longer. I think snedeker still plays the x hot.

I have to agree with this. I've try other 3 woods, and they are definitely longer, but I don't want to mess with the consistency of what I've been playing (TM R9 -15 degree). Also, what would extra distance do to your gaps? My 3 iron to 3 wood gap is right where I like it.

The longer driver shaft might be a reason for that. It was for me. If you have a fairway wood that you love, don't stray from it. I still miss my x2hot 4w...

    Don’t upgrade.

A 3 wood is a unique instrument similar to a putter where trust and confidence takes priority.

I game the 3 and 5 woods steelhead xr, consistently it then to a certain yardage.

I have experimented with the strong 3 wood but than it pushes my driver which I have no problem hitting off the tee.
