I500 power spec vs reg

Was curious if anyone has compared the power specs regular lofted I500’s irons. I’m not a high swing speed currently use g400s with cfs stiff and carry my 7 iron 160ish with a high ball flight, always been a relatively higher flight player. Seeing if the power spec give up too much launch for distance. Ir stood I just stick to the regular lofted. Unfortunately I’m unable to hit the power spec just regular

I'm not a very high swing speed player either, my 6 iron carries about 155, and I just purchased the i500's a couple months ago. I was leaning towards the power specs at first, but after testing on GCQuad during my fitting, I opted for the standard specs. The biggest problem is probably the loss of spin in the mid/long irons that you will encounter. Also, it might really mess up your bag configuration if your 5 iron is 22 degrees or so and you play a 21 degree hybrid or something similar. I'd say give the standard lofts a try and get custom fit, you'll be able to tell whats right for you pretty easily I think.

I'd say that how the lofts fit with the rest of your bag (fairways, hybrids, and wedges - assuming you don't want to redo these as well) is the biggest factor. I don't really understand how how a 24* 5 iron, 27* 6 iron, and 30.5* 7 iron work great but suddenly everything is so off with a 25.5* 6 iron and a 29* 7 iron (power specs). Everything here is going to be between the original specs of the same clubs.

I do see the point how this may make some of the long irons more difficult to play. But this could just mean you have 1 less iron in the bag and as long as things blend together at the top correctly everything is fine.

I just picked up a set on a whim because I can’t not tinker. They were 6-pw witb power spec lofts. Only played one round compared to some of the other clubs I’ve hit but all it did was allow me to play with less clubs. I have a 19 degree hybrid I jump to the power spec 6 iron and haven’t noticed a really huge gap thus far. All my distances are covered and really that’s all I’m worried about

How was the height and any issues with holding on greens

I had no issues holding greens at all. Hit a few 6 and 7 irons that stopped within 3 feet of their divot

Here is a review online:

However, the testers have higher swing speeds, and that could definitely influence the results.

Lol that’s funny I watched it and I love all there videos but I can’t relate when Matt is doing the testing cause his speed is tour level. Today in Maryland we had insane wind but I went to compare my g400 to the i500 (tried 3 shafts all stiff, x95 s300 dg, s300 105, awt 2.0) hit the awt best with the x95 close second. However swing wasn’t all that great today and the forgiveness difference showed with the g400 winning today. Funny when I’m on or even just decent both perform similar but I really prefer the looks of I500. Im gonna have to do a bunch more test I guess. Hell I might even throw in the tm p790
