They say feel isn’t real...

Took a video for the first time ever today and it looks nothing like I thought it would. Think I need to flatten it out some but I’m not sure where else to go from there. Instructors please feel free to tear it down and give me a few drills and feels to look for on my journey to a more solid and better swing.

flat/upright isn't your issue. You lose your spine angle on as you're making contact with the ball. You're standing up as you hit the ball. You're making that move to correct something. I'll leave to the experts to say if your starting posture is too much bend forward and how to get to the root cause. See if this video helps you.

Like the previous poster stated your posture is an issue. Draw a line (hold a piece of paper) from where your shoulders are down to the ground. Look at how much farther out toward the ball they are (and away from your legs) they are compared to where the same line runs on Rory Mcilroy in the video Leo posted. Likewise look at the angle of your hips at setup compared to Mcilroy and other good ball strikers. (Look at the belt angle of McIlroy and Faldo in my signature below). Their hips angle more towards the shaft and golf ball at setup.

Out on the course you can take a club and hang it from your shoulders to see how you are positioned. From a feel perspective good setup may feel like:

Your overall posture should feel taller and less pitched forward. Your hips are held high and pushed back behind you. Your shoulders are pulled back and feel like they are almost stacked over your knees. Better posture at setup will lead to better posture, balance, and positions during the swing. The better posture will give more room for your arms (and club) to swing into better positions.

Setup is where your issue starts. You want to bend your knees a tiny bit more and bend your hips a ton less. Ideally you want to have the middle of your feet, knees and arm pits lined up to where you can draw a line down through them. It's kind of tough to suggest much else beyond that since every thing else is a compensation for the setup. You basically aren't giving your hands any room to work with setup like this so they have to move away from the body going back and then you have to come up through the ball so your hands have somewhere to go.

I'm not an instructor, just another amateur hack, so, my novice $0.02 worth...

I can't help but think OPs posture and set up are interlinked with his equipment and build.

Looking at his address position, the toe of his club seems very high off the ground.

I understand the posture set up feedback given, but, wonder if there is also an equipment fitting issue linked with his build.

It seems like his hands hold the club ok. Bit hard to fully see the grip. But angle of wrists looks ok?

Camera angle makes it hard to tell for certain, but is his build, height, also linking to be a factor as to why he has learnt to set up as he had?

I'm genuinely curious, and don't want to throw off the OP in his improvement path, but, I can't help but think there is an Interlinked issue. My concern, thought process then is, even by improving posture, is OP going to find other issues with ball striking contact due to face angle, toe up / down, etc.

How tall are you OP? Do you know, or can you get, your wrist to floor length measurement? What length clubs are you playing? Do you know the lie angle of your clubs?
