Video Popup

The video pop up happens on every page and every time a page is reloaded. Read an article and comment, page reloads and video pops up again. It has gotten beyond annoying and is affecting how often I come to the website. One pop up per site visit is reasonable and shows some respect for your readers. Every time a page loads is out of bounds. Really out of bounds. "Sad. Very sad."

Yes, this site has about the worst user experience that I have seen. I used to come here for good banter and good reviews. It's sad really, that whomever was running this ship, ran it straight into an iceberg.

Almost as bad as putting a generic complaint in the first place you could think of.

Have a complaint ? Find a thread in the section i've linked to and add to it - or start your own. I think I can promise it'll be read by management.

Since I'm pretty bored today let me take a shot.

Do you wonder why NOBODY (that I can find anyway) has already posted about such an annoying "feature" ? I'm guessing it's because nobody else has the same problem.

Talk about "sad". You want wrx to show some respect to its readers ? How about showing them some respect by explaining the problem ?

You don't mention the device you're viewing on. Or its operating system. Or the browser you're using. You don't mention what the "video" is about, where (part of the screen) it "pops up" on and you certainly aren't showing any screenshots of it. Basically you are giving ZERO information on which anybody in management can act on.

Just a hunch but I'm guessing that is why nobody has answered you or asked you anything.

FWIW I am using a MAC desktop with a Chrome browser and I see NO SUCH "videos" or anything else that comes close to what you are experiencing.

I believe it's your serve.

There ARE other people who have had this issue and HAVE complained about it. Those posts also WERE NOT addressed by anyone from the website.

Is your main purpose to defend this site? It seems like in every issue thread you are defending the site in someway.

Anyone who uses this site would know which annoying video the OP is referring to. There’s no need to ask for which OS/browser/device because it has nothing to do with those.

Apparently you are mistaken as I use this site and I have NO IDEA what video popups you, or he, are talking about. I see no such video popups as the OP is describing. Maybe I'm just lucky ? But since YOU obviously do AND know it has nothing to do with OS/browser/device, please publish your suggestion(s) to address the issue. I'm sure management will be grateful..

 

Anyway, no, my main purpose is helping this site, not defending it. Having been involved with a number of discussion sites and understanding the volume of reports/complaints management has to deal with, along with many IT considerations, along with THIS conversion being especially poor, I just decided to pitch in when I can and hopefully help both them AND the members.

I love golf and I love this site and since I have the time, along with a bit of expertise, I am simply doing my best to help out with the issues,,,,,,,,,,, if I can.

I spent 30+ YEARS being frustrated by all the same things the mods and programmers are now vis-a-vis users complaining without describing the problem(s) thoroughly enough, and sometimes barely at all. It is, as I'm sure you can imagine, a very frustrating thing. Frankly, especially with some of the earlier complaints about the site, the mods were a lot more patient than I would have been.

Anyway, hope this explanation helps.
