Minimalist Shoes - I'm late to the game

What's up brothers? I know I am late to the minimalist movement in golf. Truth be told, I was part of the rush with barefoot shoes in my Tough Mudder days and actually still prefer a low / 0 drop shoe. I'm on a never ending quest for input / reviews.

My latest grab was the M-Project first version which has 0 water proofing to it. The fit is not awesome as my foot is crowded by my little toe but, I like how much of the ground I feel and the grip and control.

I have been looking at Vivobarefoot which isn't necessarily a golf shoe but should do the job with its tracks. I think the TrueLinks shoes are hideous. Ecco S-Lite looks promising but, again, isn't of the water proof genre which I'll need when I play in Maine soon.

If anyone has any input as to shoes or brands I haven't mentioned, I'm all ears. I just can't stand wearing a tall and heavy shoe.

I know you think True's are ugly, but give them a run. Not as bad in person and amazingly comfy. Maybe True knits?

I did have a pair of these and they weren’t bad but they fell apart quite quick. Minimalist shoes can have a bad rap for quick degradation but, these smaller niche companies do it right and charge for it. The Xero shoes, Vivo Barefoot, and others charge 160 for their trail running shoes but they last forever and a day.

Hoping to wake this discussion again.

I have two pairs of True Linkswear Sensei that are getting very long in the tooth. I'm Ok with the sole wear but frequent machine washing has caused some plastic stuff to get exposed near the shoe's tongue. I also have a pair of Footboy FootJoy M:Project that have leather uppers and look new, except for the soles.

I really don't get the non-minimal shoes I wore for decades. They felt lousy and were hell to walk in. I was sorry to see the true minimalist shoe thing was rather short lived. Buying used shoes is not my style but what can I do? If anyone is aware of any new minimal shoes I would love to hear about them.

True Linkswear is your best bet. Ecco S-lite are next, then probably trail running shoes (several lower drop, lower profile options out there).

 

Ecco Biom shoes are lower drop, but have more structure.

Vivobarefoot has some trail shoes that definitely aren't the golf look and people swear by them. I keep looking at True Linkswear but, they just look goofy to me. For some reason, the minimalist lines never has a sexy appeal.

I'll say the ecco bioms are better but, I wanna get some new minimalist shoes with spikes. Thats the new goal.

TRUE TL-1. hard to get on but perfect once on. Waterproof as well.
