Mizuno JPX 825 vs EZ

Hey all -

In the market for a new iron set this year. I use to play the Mx-23 with dynamic golf S300s for years when I played often before the family. I noticed that I was not scoring as well so I got rid of them and went to the Ping G20. I never really liked the high ball flight and the feeling of the clubs so I have decided to get fit for a new set of Mizunos.

I see they have an 825 which looks good but I also see the new EZ model which has gotten great reviews even though I am unsure about a gunmetal and orange look.

In any case, I play once a week now and will start out shooting around 86 a round and then as I play more and the season picks up I'll be around that 80 range.

I hit a high ball naturally so any input between these two irons and suggestions on shafts would be appreciated. I am not even looking at the Pro models because I am limited on budget and the pro model is 200 more a set and would limit me from getting a SW/LW.

Thanks

I play the 825 nonpro. They are a godsend in terms of forgiveness. Very long too. They aren't forged so they don't have the feel or sound of the pros but the forgiveness trumps that for me. I played forged clubs for a while but the mis hits are too penalizing. The EZ forged seems to be a forged GI club but I don't think you will get the same forgiveness unless you get the non forged. I shoot mid 80s as well and probably won't move back to a forged club until I am consistently under 80.

When did the 825 series debut? I thought it was 2012.

FWIW ........ just because an iron is forged doesn't mean it lacks forgiveness. I am currently playing a set of Nike VRS Forged and if you can shoot mid-80s you can easily play them. The forgiveness is off the charts, they are very long, and you still get that great feel with a shot in the center of the face. 15 years ago your statement may have been more correct, but there are many irons currently that are forged and offer plenty of compassion. A few are Adams CB3, Adams A4, Nike VRS, Nike Covert ... I could go on and on.

TEE CB Pro LE 13 degree
TEE XCGV 16.5 degree

Any pics or such of JPX 850s???? Was thinking of pulling trigger on set of 825 but may want to wait!

No mizuno are pretty good with leaks. The open normal sees the first picture releases. And seeing how good the 54's and 4's look, Chris saying they look sweet gets me excited, I'm planning changing the 59's for them already.

Agreed. The 825 pros are forged and plenty forgiving IMO.

Agree I don't think you lose too much going pros and certainly gain in looks, 825 felt like a sgi when I hit them with near 53 styling
