KBS Praise!

Picked up a set of irons on BST for a really great deal. They arrived and I thought something looked a little funny with the hosel area. Pulled off the 5 iron and sure as heck...the C-Taper had a bent tip. Classic C-Taper problem that still crops up from time to time. Yanked off two more heads....two more bend tips.

 

Long story short - Emailed a CSR at KBS and had a response within minutes. They asked me what I wanted, how many irons I had and if there was anything else they could offer me. I said toss me a towel or something. Today, in 4 day turnaround time, arrived a brand new set of C-Taper 120's and a KBS goody bag.

 

I've never seen customer service like that before. No questions asked, made it right and offered a viable solution for a tinkerer!

Yeah. Problem is they won't stop bending. How often do you want to check and replace them?

 

I have the KBS tour V 120x and I was sent an entirely new set last month. But I've only owned the damn clubs six months!!! I certainly don't abuse them. The sad fact is that all KBS shaft tips are too weak and they all bend.. The shafts perform great but it is a terribly serious problem. Lord only knows how much it is costing them in replacements.

 

The CS rep even told me that TT and Nippon reinforce their tips with extra material. Hummmm. And you guys don't? You think maybe they have a good idea there that you guys should copy?? Stupid. Really stupid.

I bought a set of ping Ansers on the Bay. Pulled the KBS tours. 3 of 7 tips bent.

 

I bought a set of c taper s+ pulls. 5 of 8 shafts bent. Live and learn, but EXPECT KBS product to be bent if you buy second hand.

KBS must be feeling a bit more guilty these days because of all the bent tip issues with their products. However, they need to do more than simply fix the problem when someone brings it to their attention. Why hasn't KBS redesigned all their flawed products to prevent this problem from occurring so frequently in the first place?...Seems this problem is way too common with KBS. While this problem can occur with other brands as well, it is a rare occurrence for other steel shaft manufacturers... ;)

That's a very valid point. They should probably fix the problem through R&D instead of just giving away free sets of shafts. Wish they sent along some tape and epoxy too LOL

What will I notice or see with a bent tip? (Is it obvious visually with head mounted?)

I've had multiple sets of pulled KBS shafts (Tour, CT, CTL) and have never seen one bent.

I have had multiple sets of other manufacturers bend...It's just not KBS. I have had a set of KBS bend and they stood behind it. And sent me new shafts no questions asked. I'm glad they make their shafts differently. The feel 100 times better.....just my preference though.

Put the club against a straight edge and compare the gap just outside the hosel with a toe up and toe down position. It will be obvious.

 

I am getting a new set of tour v shafts tomorrow to replace the bent ones. Great service but I agree with other posters. Fix the problem. Free product that just bends again doesn't cover my time and grip costs of the repair every time this happens.

This is my first time experiencing the bent tips but it's pretty obvious to those that know what to look for. At least KBS took the high road here and replaces without question. Their margins must be so good that it's nothing to replace/ship. More companies should try to fix the problem instead of leaving customers hanging
