I screwed up!

Left my Scotty overnight in a wet headcover...

After wiping it down with the silicone cloth it still has rust spots on the face and sole. :rolleyes:

I've committed a cardinal sin and am really pissed about it! Is there any way to fix this myself? ;)

Get some 0000 steel wool, put some oil on it and lightly rub the areas that are rusted. This should take off the surface rust. It will take some time, but don't use too much pressure as to take off the finish of the putter.

 

Hopefully you don't have any pitting, you shouldn't since it's just been there one night.

flitz polish works very well but be very gentle

 

If you kill the finish Kevin Colbert can redo it for next to nothing. Check out Putterplating.com if you cant remedy your problem

I would use Flitz before even thinking about touching it with 0000 steel wool. I'd even use a rag and some WD40 before attempting the steel wool as a last resort.

Exactly - WD-40 and a rag has always worked for me. I live up in Bellingham, WA so I understand the pains of trying to keep a carbon putter nice. I've given up and just get Stainless now.
