So now that Cameron has moved to some stepless shafts, would those shafts also be YSC? The answer is no. They are YST because the ST in True Temper putter shafts means straight taper, or stepless.

If YSC were a Cameron proprietary shaft, they would not be allowed to be used by other OEMs because Acushnet/Titleist would sue the pants off of them. Yet Byron uses them in the DH-89 and Tad used them in his Damascus putters in 1995. Do the math.

Since this thread was bumped anyway, I'll chime in here instead of starting another. The lack of choice in putter shafts on the market now is completely unacceptable, particularly in the case of flare tips. If you wish to reshaft a flare tip putter right now, your readily available choices are 1) True Temper stepless or 2) UST Frequency Filtered ( which no one stocks but can be ordered). The TT stepless serves to connect the head to the grip but that is all. I generally like the UST in most heads, but sweet baby Jeebus, why can't I purchase a good feeling steel flare tip shaft without scrounging, buying a putter and pulling the shaft, etc. I know the TT guys are on the board, so perhaps they can clarify: how does Scotty Cameron have exclusive rights to a shaft even when he isn't producing any putters that take that shaft? There are a lot of golfers who still use blade or bullseye-style putters who would like to be able to reshaft their clubs if needed. Business is business, but I just don't see why you can't make up some shafts that feel at least very close to a head speed or fluted bullseye shaft. Hundreds of thousands of cool old putters are effectively consigned to the trash heap because their feel is ruined by the current offerings.

The problem is less acute with .355 or .370 because with some experimentaion anyone can find an iron shaft that flexes the way they prefer. I won't even bring up pencil shafts, I haven't taken my beta blaockers yet this this morning.

I've just ordered some what are supposed to be 0.355 taper tip stepped putter shafts (code BDJP2) they measure 0.335 at the tip? Is this some kind of old OEM shaft? I bought them from Diamond Golf by the way. I think the have to be trimmed an inch or so. I wonder why these were made and who for?

The options for putter shafts are weak! I've even just orders the DG tour issue onyx black stepped for a whopping £30 for one of my putters. That's dear for a plain black shaft IMO. It looks the biz though.

It's still possible to get the .355 YSC and its stepped flaretip counterpart. I use them in some projects.

Weight is slightly heavier but the feel is superb
