Personally I prefer the SFO to Eugene option. There are 5 or so United flights a day there and then it's a couple hours drive. It really provides a lot more flexibility in scheduling. Also if a ground delay kicks in and there is only the one flight to North Bend each day you can be properly scuppered.

Hi! I will be playing Pebble Beach in the summer, and our gruop decided it would be nice to play Bandon Dunes as well. Whats the best place to fly from Monterrey to Bandon, it seems to be pretty far from everywhere, I might be missing something.

Thanks a lot!!!

SFO has a daily flight or 2 into North Bend,OR so I would drive to SFO and catch that flight. The carrier is United or United Express..Sounds like a great trip!

Agreed... this is the best way.

You will so dig Bandon. And Pebble. But Bandon is just pure.

Speaking of the Mother Lode, Bandon is one awesome experience , 2 pieces of advice, bend you a putter to about 8 degree and leave the Lob Wedge in the bag at Bandon, another thing is Read the book DREAM GOLF before you go it will make Bandon a real special place after you understand what Keiser went through to find this place. It will be a Pebble Beach story in a 100 years I am sure, I read the book after I went and really wish I had read before I went to Bandon. Good luck to you guy's and have a great time, those are 2 very special place's , the mystery of Bandon is awesome. I hope the Golf Demon's stay away but you guys need to get a little wind from the Ocean, I am a little jealous writing this. Good Luck P.S. Please read the book

Yeah North Bend is the closest airport but its very small. Majority of the people flying into North Bend have their own jets. (must be rough) Eugene is probably the closest major airport but you'll still have about a 2 1/2 hour drive. The drive is cool although you don't want to make it in the dark, it really lets you know that you're in the middle of no where and it makes Bandon feel that much more mystical. You could always road trip up the west coast probably about a 7-8 hour drive. Enjoy

Okay, the Bandon book sounds like a great suggestion for required reading.

Here's an excellent warm up for Pebble:

Have you considered renting a car or van and driving up the coast? It would take a full day if that would fit into your schedule but the non-golfing benefits are tempting. Cheaper, too.

After going through the airports, checking baggage, renting a car and driving to Bandon you may end up with a wash time-wise.

Be prepared for fog, heavy at times, during the summer months on the West Coast.

How long a trip are you guys on? Is it at least a week total including getting there and back from where ever home is?

Are you talking 36 hours on the ground in Monterrey, then a day of travel, then maybe 48 hours at Bandon? If so, I'd suggest pick one or the other.

I personally wouldn't even consider going all the way to Bandon to play two or three rounds of golf. If you can't fit in at least four of the courses over four or more days of golf save it for a trip when you can stay a while. It's too hard to get to and there's too much golf to be played for a hit-and-run.

Likewise for Pebble Beach, to a certain extent. I would not want to leave PBGL and haul butt to the airport to try and make an evening flight up the coast. Some things are better savored than rushed through.

[/quote]Sometimes that hectic drive is part of the fun. Last month, my flight landed in SFO at 9:15, bags were slow coming out so our group split so others could go get the rental car. We then peeled back around to pick up the bags and headed south. We got to Spyglass 15 minutes before the last tee time of the day. They gave us extra time to warm up, the staff sent someone over to the grill to pick up lunch for us...and 20 minutes later we were walking down the first fairway on a 65*, no wind day playing on some of the best golfing terrain in the world.
