OKC Trip

We are doing a college spring break buddies trip in a couple of weeks down to OKC. What are the must play courses for a good price. We are from northern Minnesota and haven't seen grass in months and would like to have a few scenic courses to choose from. We are mid to high single digit handicaps so we would like a courses that can challenge us as we'll.

University of Oklahoma golf course. You can make a 1 1/2 hr drive to Duncan and play The Territory. The munis here are not bad at all but may not challenge you enough. The clubs are tough to get on without a member. Of the munis, Kickingbird is always in pretty good shape with nice greens. If you can swing a private course Oak Tree and Twin Hills are great. Twin Hills is probably in the best shape this time of year. They overseed and the greens are amazing.

Not sure how much you're willing to spend, but if you want a "top 100" type course, look into Karsten Creek in Stillwater (OSU course). It's ~1 hour+ north of OKC and one of the best courses in the state ... they don't exactly want much outside play and charge $300 per round.

Not sure it's worth $300, but I've heard it's amazing. Several folks around Tulsa tell me they'd rather play Karsten than Southern Hills (multiple major championship venue).

You could do Fairfax, Kickingbird, and Coffe Creek. All in Edmond (north OKC)
All fun courses. In OKC the public courses are pretty good, Lincoln has two course as well as Lake Hefner.


However nothing is green here yet.
