Moving to DFW help me out!

Hey guys. I'm potentially moving down to the DFW area in July or August into the north Dallas area. Was wondering if anyone lives up that way and good course recommendations. I come from a very active Minnesota WRX area and we all play golf together. So was hoping to maybe meet some potential playing partners as well!

Cheers!

I no longer live in Plano or Texas for that matter but when I moved to Texas I knew zero people. Hung out at what is now known as Pecan Hollow. I'd show up early AM on Saturday's and Sunday's and get on the wait list. (They do not send out anything less than a foursome on weekends.) They used to hold a drawing for weekend tee times. I'd even attend the drawing (it was at like 6am Friday morning) and get a tee time. It was a worthwhile endeavor.
Also there was the "PGA" (Plano Golf Association) that had a weekend golf league at Pecan Hollow. I suspect the organization no longer exists.

Many courses to choose from depending on how far you want to drive and now you'll be able to play pretty much year round. Some courses give resident discounts. I play and practice most at Woodbridge in Wylie. They do a 20% discount plus a free sleeve of Titleist balls(your choice including Pro V's)with all rounds up to 2:30. The Golf Channel AM Tour in Dallas has a good following also.

I just moved away from DFW, there are quite a few really good guys there. We had a golfwrx get-together a little over a year ago, and it was a blast. I played with jaytee617 and nikonut. Tried to get out there with CosmosMPower but it never happened.

Our standard courses were: Pecan Hollow, Firewheel, and Indian Creek, but there are a ton of really good ones depending on your price range...

A bad day on the course is better than
a good day at work!

I'm in Plano as well, and second what a lot of the folks above said. Lots of great facilities and variety here, plus I've found that there are some really great courses here for affordable prices. As for looking to play with other DFW WRX-ers, we have an ongoing post about that here where if someone is looking to play they post up a message and others will respond if they are interested. It's been slow recently but hopefully we can all start using more.

Hey Rob,

There are quite a few nice tracks in the DFW area. I live over by White Rock Lake and there is Tenison Park, just up the road which is pretty nice. Also some notables would be Coyote Ridge, Stevens Park and Indian Creek.

If your interested we have a DFW Golfwrx facebook page that is starting to get quite a few members. Soon we will be planning group events and could be used to find other partners in the area.

Thanks I will sign up. It became official this week that work is transferring me down to McKinney for work. So need to start house hunting and find WRX peeps to play with. Moving end of July. I'm excited. No more MN winters for me!

I live in McKinney, and was born in Minnesota. Get ready for some serious hot. In a couple years you will be able to say with a straight face "It's only 95 today, feels kind of nice." I use Westridge mostly, it's usually in decent shape and I like their large grass range. I'm the guy with the Boston Red Sox cap with a confused look on his face.

I live in McKinney also, moved here from Wisconsin a few years ago. What TServos said is true, after a while you will think 95 is great golf weather! It is a great area to live. I also play at Westridge and I' m the guy in the New York Yankee hat with a confused look on his face :)

Check out the Stonebridge area, mature neighborhood nice houses and Stonbridge Ranch Country Club, that's where I'm a member. But if you aren't interested in membership then westridge, Indian Creek, Ridgeview ranch is ok, Heritage Ranch is nice...there are so many options it's crazy.

Welcome to Texas. I've lived in Minnesota as well. I love the golf up there (Hazeltine, Mineapolis GC, Chaska TC, Edinburgh, Minnetonka CC, etc.). Honestly, i think the golf is much better up there. However, you will love being able to play year round.

    • In-hand photos of 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus, Stealth 2, Stealth 2 HD drivers + fairways woods
Check out our front page launch stories here and here.

What you need to know: For the first time, carbon is the most prevalent material by volume in a TaylorMade driver, and more carbon equals better performance, says the company. Last year, TaylorMade debuted a 60X Carbon Twist Face. With TaylorMade Stealth 2, engineers are bringing carbon to more of the golf club — and unveiling a new-and-improved Carbon Twist Face in the process. Stealth 2 Plus (low spin, most workable) Stealth 2, and Stealth 2 HD (draw bias, high launch, most forgiving) drivers make up the Stealth 2 family.

      Stealth 2 Plus

      Stealth 2 HD

What you need to know: Breakthrough movable weight technologies and versatile designs are the hallmarks of the 2023 TaylorMade Stealth 2 fairway woods. Stealth 2 Plus is branded as “three fairway woods in one” owing to the unique performance characteristics afforded by the 50-gram sole weight. Stealth 2 features a slightly lower profile 3D carbon crown than Stealth. This moves CG down and away from the toe with more weight in the rear of the club for higher launch and MOI. Ultra-high MOI Stealth 2 HD features an oversized 200cc head and low-profile sole, creating an easy-to-hit, draw-biased club.
