making gloves last

Recommended Posts

how to store them
I practice everyday, hit anywhere from 100-500 balls and play about 3-4 times a week. I go through gloves like crazy! I always put them back in the packet they come in and after about a week or two they are done! Is there a way to store gloves to make them last longer...like maybe putting them in a plastic bag or something. We all know gloves arent cheap so anyway to make them last 4 more rounds is a big money saver.

Different glove materials will wear differently as well.

The nice soft cabretta (sp?) leather will wear faster for sure.

Some gloves have a combination of leathers on it...may be worth a look.

Also depends on how much you sweat in them as well, if you sweat a lot, changing your gloves while you are practicing will reduce wear (damp gloves seem to wear quicker)

You also might want to look at the wear pattern and see if you are gripping too tightly, or something along those lines.

During the season, I'll practice 5-6x and play 3-5x. So similar.

My gloves (Callaway tour/Pro series) seem to last about 3-4 weeks.

I change them out mainly because I don't like how they feel anymore (not as tight fitting, and crunchier) not always because I'm wearing through them.

Not sure if that helps.

OMG you play a lot of golf. I had this problem a while back, and while I don't play as much golf as you, I think that I have improved the life of my gloves, albeit marginally.

First as another post says above, bite the bullet and use a weathersof glove. They last way longer than other Footjoy models. I'm fairly skilled and this did not hurt my game or cost me any amount of feel.

Secondly, just as shoes will last longer if you rotate them, gloves seem to do the same. I have a clothes line in my laundry room that has about six gloves on it. If you velcro them up there after you use them and let them rest, it may improve their life slightly, but that's about the best lift you are going to get.

You could dedicate 2 additional days per month to putting. If you are paying $10 per 100 balls, this would buy you an extra glove every month.

Start eating Ramen Noodles for every meal if all else fails.

Yea i find thats the best way to make them last longer is to just switch gloves every 9 holes or so. Also, i belong to a club so unlimited golf balls for me...i could hit 10 or 1000 haha and not pay a cent.

But Ramen Noodles isnt such a bad idea...

Regarding the grip pressure thing, I'm sure w/ that much practice you've gotten enough instruction that your grip pressure is pretty close. The only thing is, practicing that much and that often can sometimes cause you to alter your grip pressure slowly through out the day because of the accumulated fatigue. That coudl lead to slightly increased wear. Either way, I don't think you could get that much more life out of your gloves, maybe another week.

I buy my gloves from http://www.mastergrip.com/gloves.asp?ru=0&...opping=&f=g - I get the DynaGrip model - 2 for $11.95 is too good to pass up. I have found their gloves to hold up just as well as FJ or Titleist gloves.

Unless you make the stuff from fresh ingredients, don't. There's some stuff in the instant ramen that are hazardous to your health if you ingest high quantities.

More on topic though, you could try playing without a glove. I play every day as well, and you're not going to get a lot more life out of your gloves whatever you do. Reshaping them and putting them into a resealable bag does seem to keep it soft slightly longer, though.

It was, but good advice nonetheless. I don't eat them personally, and just know they are cheap. Guessing it's MSG's or something in there that isn't good.
