Best Bargain Country Clubs in Houston

I am currently looking around for nice country clubs in the west Houston area that won't cost me an arm and leg. I would like it to have a great quality and fairly difficult golf course and plenty of fun amenities and great service. I would like to have the initiation fee lower than 10k and monthly dues lower than 400. Anybody have any advice? I am looking for a normal membership for the family(not a junior one). Please include all pricing if possible. And personal opinions are great. Thanks!

Bargain and country club in the same sentence??

I would check out pine forest, only course I can think of in that area that would fit price points.

You might want to try riverbend but that's in stafford/sugar land.

What part of town your in, I would also say Riverbend. Also if you have not had the chance and have facebook, join the Houston GolfWrx facebook page. Lots of guys spread through out the area, never short of games, and will be able to provide information on country clubs.

Check out Sterling CC - Private side of Houston National. Private side is very good - public side is starting to get there but they still have more work to do. Fits well within your budget. Hit me up if you want to play a round out there

West Houston covers a lot of territory north to south.
Riverbend is very nice. Have only played there in tournaments but the course is always in great shape and fun to play. Cannot speak for the price.
If you want to go quite a ways out west, Weston Lakes is in your price range.
Sugar Creek, they are in the process of renovating the greens 9 holes at a time. They have 27 holes. Pretty decent golf course, fun to play. I belive it is in your price range also. Most of the members there are not spring chickens.

The renovations at Sugar Creek actually include the entire course, not just the greens. We've completed the Trent nine and the Jones nine will be done hopefully for October 1st. if the Jones nine turns out as well as the Trent nine, I'll be thrilled. The course is in fantastic shape right now and only going to get better. I'd be happy to take anyone out who is interested. I joined about 5 months ago and couldn't be happier with my decision. Memberships range from $5k initiation and $500/mo. dues for 40+ year olds and cheaper for 30-40 and 30 and below.
