Grand Cypress

I've got a few friends coming into town in August and we are going play 4 rounds of golf in the blazing heat. Currently, we're looking at playing Bella Colina, Grande Pines, Grand Cypress and the 4th spot is open, but we'll probably try to get out on BayHill (may have an aeration issue) or one of the Reunion courses. My question is in looking at Grand Cypress which of the courses do you prefer? The NSE or New Course? Honestly, I kind of want to play the NSE to check out the 5th whole on the East course. Also, if you were playing in the Orlando area would you pick any other courses over those that I've chosen? If so what would you choose and which would you drop. I live in Lake Mary (North of Orlando) and was trying to pick courses I hadn't played before b/c while we aren't that great we are pretty competitive and I didn't want to have an advantage.

ChampionsGate international and Ritz Carlton are great. Check out the Disney courses too.

played Grand Cypress many times. The New Course is fun once. NSE are fantastic layouts...

Grand Cypress NS is a nice combo. The East drives me nuts. I played the New Course last wknd 7/20 and it was beautiful. Fun course.

NSE are great 9's. Very traditional layouts and always in great shape.

The New Course is a VERY fun layout, if you like unique golf. It was designed as Jack's tribute to the old course at St. Andrews. 1/18 are identical to the old course. 7 double green complexes. About 180 pot bunkers around the place, some with ladders they are so deep. It's a fun course if you've never played it.

Pick what style your looking for and book that one. Each have their own qualities.

As for Disney courses - they are good (Palm and Magnolia) but not very memorable for the $$$. You can do better at Orange County National for half the price (http://www.ocngolf.com/).

My suggestion: skip Grand Pines and play two rounds at Grand Cypress. The New Course is a unique golf course and will be a nice change of pace. The other 3 nines in any combination would make for a great round. I'm a member at Bella Collina, so I'm probably a little biased on that one. Bay Hill would be nice if you can swing it. The courses at Orange County National are usually in great shape. I don't think they're as challenging as other courses and a bit overrated, but the place caters to groups and has great practice facilities. I like ChampionsGate too, International course only. My diamond in the rough is up by you, Victoria Hills. Not sure what the condition is, but I think it's the best layout of any course in Central Florida.

Another board I am a part of always recommends the New course.

Southern Dunes just outside of Orlando is a place often recommended that I played several months ago. I certainly enjoyed it and think you would do well to add it to your list. It always makes some of these lists in Florida as well.
