Buying clubs

Do your parents allow you to buy lots of clubs. My dad rarely lets me buy any and I wondered if this is common. Even if it is my own money it is usually a case of "You don't need it" when I usually do for one reason or another.

My parents have no problems with me buying as many clubs as I want. As long as it is your money you are spending, and not your parents, I don't think it is an issue. It also helps if you sell the club(s) that you are replacing, so the net cost of your new club is considerablely less. Maybe if you get a job, assuming you don't have one, your dad will loosen up. After I got my job and bought most of my clubs as replacements for my old ones, I never heard a thing from my parents, because I didn't have to beg "will you go 50% 50% mom?". Hope that helps. How old are you? If you are in middle school, I think it is more reasonable for your parents to be protective, but still, it's always up to them. Good luck.

I agree with Ben. When I was younger my parents were always protecting me from wasting my money, they still do to some extent, but I sell a lot of my old stuff and my net comes out to about zero money lost, zero gained.

 

Since they've left me alone I've gotten 4 drivers, 2 3 woods, 2 5 woods, another set of irons, 3 putters, couple of shafts, and thats about it, but then again that is in the last 2 months....lol.

They are usually not to bad with me, but I have a job and get a slight discount on clubs due to the fact that I work at the place where I purchase them. So far I have ordered irons, a driver, and two wedges, with grips and PX's and it has cost me about $450-$500. I still need a putter and two fw's, it'll probably end up costing me approx $1000 when I'm done, after all my trade ins of course.

I buy alot of clubs and other items from here. I just don't tell my parents about it, and they really can't complain about it when the box shows up, they just accept it. But, like adam, I've started to sell the stuff thats accumulated in the closet, so I get close to even on my club spending.
