You need a Torino ;) this one seats 6! The full wagon will take 8 and the boots big enough for at least 4 bodies :p

I feel like I'd need to purchase a gun if I drove a Torino. I've seen that Clint Eastwood movie.

Did you pick them up for her Pigs? I'm certain we'd agree to create a loophole that allows you to purchase clubs for your wife. Unless those Tigress clubs are secretly for you.

My wife hasn't expressed an interest yet, but long term I can see us playing the game together. At the moment she likes to drive the golf cart while I play.
PD
Hope she does take it up ...certainly has provided an interest for both of us post-retirement and my wife didn't even pick up a club till she was about 60. Changing the budget, especially travel budget big-time!

For both you and Pigems,

If you do get her a box set for sure get them spec-checked and maybe adjusted. My wife is on her second "box" set (currently Adams A12os) and the clubs were quite a bit lower than stated swingweight on the company website, and way lower than accepted women's SW norms. Same for the prior Callaway starter set once we checked, especially the driver. So before our recent fall getaway the fitter I use added some swingweight to all the clubs and put on GolfPride Tour 25 grips as well. (Yes, mens standard tour 25- she has larger hands and is prob 1/64 less than men's standard it turns out, so these served a dual function.) The change to her in feel was fairly seamless, but she started hitting some shots with some pop and even some baby draws.

ps I added a Gap Wedge to her set for her birthday. Who says romance is dead? :taunt:

If the PeanutsMommy does take up the game someday I'm going to suggest that she take the path that I wish I could have. We'll get her a series of lessons so she can work on her fundamentals. I will custom build her a set of clubs that address her individual needs.

I'm so happy that you and your wife have found a hobby that you can share post-retirement. I hope to get mine moving in that direction a wee bit earlier, but she say's it's 'my thing'. We'll see how things go. We do many things together, maybe she wishes to kick me out of the house. I experience quiet time and so does she.

Thanks. I forgot you built clubs. My wife will never be as keen as me, but she joined a "nine and dine" at an exec course and has benefited from the social of that and friendship off the course. Gives me some of that "me" time too!

Not sure how far you are from Etobicoke, but if that's a possibility for lessons I'd refer a top notch pro who is in the "Inner Game of Golf" and "Extraordinary Golf" mindset. Best coach my wife and I have had. If interested in contacting him, PM me. He's at a high end private club now so not sure if he can teach outside on the QT or otherwise but..

I caved, mostly because over time, I didn't like the JPX 850 Forged head length... too long and too square of a top line, I've played a few rounds here in Florida and more and more I've come to really dislike how they frame the ball, I've went back to trusty i25's. Not a bad move all in all because I needed X Flex shafts anyway so I sold my JPX 850 Forged and got some irons and a new driver down here in FL.... I would have lost this bet a long time ago, LOL

Here are some pics, note the new irons. Also, I would like to add the TaylorMade Mini Driver is benched, I figured out the settings and combo that works for me, finally!

tdelam,

I probably would have struggled to stay in the Wager if I were in Florida as well.

Enjoy your upcoming rounds with the 'new' sticks. That electric blue crown is a beauty. Hope it's a fairway finder.

Confidence off the tee seems to bleed into the rest of my game. I'm making a concerted effort to address the issues in my short game (particularly my putting and chipping) so I can limit the damage when I'm struggling a bit off the tee. Better yet, maybe I'll experience a few days when all of the pieces fit together and I'll find a wee bit of golf nirvana. The equipment is no longer my concern.

I've been trying to do the same, those who know me understand that is my biggest issue... so far I think I have figured it out, today was all about the short game and I did well, avg'd 1.6 putts, only 1 3-putt.

I made some friends here today, was paired up with a father and son from Austin TX, the son was a scratch golfer and plays on Uni of Auburn golf team or something, he shot a 71, his dad shot a 78 and I shot a 79. The kid me a few tips with my short game and helped quite a bit. He says I play/swing like a 3 handicap but putt like a 13, LOL.... I guess thats why I am stuck at 9 :(

Pigs,

given how low you launch your driver I'd be interested to see the ball-flight on an 11* mini. I'd predict that you'd see low bullets all day long. T may be correct, 13 - 14* may be in your wheelhouse.

Not that I'm encouraging you (or your wife ; ) to purchase anything.

Merry Christmas.

PS . . . my boys are sleeping soundly. We put out cookies and milk for Santa, sprinkled oats and glitter on the front lawn for the reindeer and left fresh carrots on the front porch. The Big Guy should know where to land. My son is concerned that he's going to burn to death in our gas fireplace (as he'll never be able to fit) so I've assured him that Santa has a special key. What a way to go to bed, thinking a stranger is going to enter your front door bearing gifts as you are sleeping.

Yep, kids are sleeping here as well, we don't have oats outside but we have carrotts and cookies and milk ready for me to eat after my beer is done, lol, we're sitting outside waiting for them to be *really* asleep so we can start the santa thing, my daughter was too excited, I am going to give them about 2 more beer before we start thinking about moving presents out.

Pigs,

given how low you launch your driver I'd be interested to see the ball-flight on an 11* mini.

You guys telling your stories of laying out cookies and milk for Santa is making me reminisce of sweeter days when my kids were young. They are now older and married. Still waiting for grandkids!! You guys enjoy and treasure these years. They are precious. Truly. Merry Christmas to all of you. God bless.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
