Playing in the Denver Cup this weeked

So, I was an alternate for Wellshire Men's League to represent the club in the Denver Cup and got invited last week. It's a 2 day, stroke play tournament between the 5 Denver Men's Leagues, and this year it's at City Park. I know there are some Denver folks on the board, so are any of you playing in this tournament or have you? City Park is my least favorite of the possible courses this could be held at, but that doesn't matter. Still have to go play well for a couple days. There are 4 people in each flight, A-D, and A and B are gross stroke play, drop the lowest of the 4 scores, while C is a best ball and D is a scramble. I am in B flight at 6.9 index. So there are the deetz. Anyone else have a tourney like this or have played in something similar? Will I see any of you out there this weekend?

I no longer live in the area but grew up playing all of the Denver munis. Wellshire is my clear favorite and the one I have played the most. I hope you guys represent the old girl well. Good luck!

Not from Denver but I'm very familiar withe the Denver muni courses. It's too bad they don't just play it at Wellshire every year since it's far and away the best of the muni's. For those that aren't aware, Wellshire was the first Donald Ross design in Colorado.

Wellshire has tons of history, and has been in great shape the last few years after a string of pretty bad seasons. Donald Ross design and Ben Hogan played there back in the day too. City Park is just a dog track, not a big fan of that course, and yes I agree, Wellshire should host every year considering it's easily the best muni in Denver. Willis Case is ok. The rest are meh. GO Wellshire!

I travel to Denver quite a bit, wont be there this fall, but have played Wellshire, never played city park. If your interested I can drop you a pm when I'm back in the spring. The Aurora courses are pretty good. Enjoyed the hell out of CO NAT a bit north but a great track.

Good Luck! I live right down the street from Willis Case, and thought about joining the men's club there but have been told the club is full of sand-baggers. So if Willis Case wins, you know why.

Agree 100% with the pro Wellshire posters above, and I believe Donald Ross also designed the front 9 at Willis Case.

Consider Common Ground, it was re-branded and also redesigned by Tom Doak. Heritage at Westmoor has similarities to CO National.

Saddle Rock is fun, The Meadows, Foothills, Murphy Creek, Heritage Westmoor and Common Grounds as stated above are great too, and Legacy Ridge is a good tough track.

As for the Denver Cup.

Wellshire: 2014 Champions. Boom!

Well that's nice...if someone knows how to fix those pictures, please do. My computer would not flip them for me...and yes, that striking gentleman with the Cup is me. Blame my parents, it's their fault!
