Korean AP1 forged

I know that the AP1's in Korea are forged. Has anyone hit them before? My sister is in Korea right now and not sure if they play different. I combo my AP2's in the long iron, so I was just wondering

How much for a set? Can you get just a 3 & 4 iron?

The soles are definitely thinner than AP1 cast, and the offset specs are between the AP1 cast and AP2 (PW is same as AP2). I would guess they play to that - halfway between the two US sets.

If you buy a set, please post lots of pictures. I thought about hunting down a set myself, but prefer the less offset of the AP2 long irons.

They look like they have less cavity and more of the ap2 shape in the ap1 colors. Probably a little larger? and if you order them in Korea, I'm assuming you can order just a 3-4 iron just like anywhere here.

Nope, there are ap2's. I believe they r a tad larger and tad more offset as someone pointed out earlier.

But if you look at the Asian market, titleist releases some nice stuff out there that we don't get here.

Forged vokeys -- which I don't really care too much about. More color options for headcovers and Pom covers etc.

No, no and no.

Korea [b]does[/b] have AP2, they do [b]not[/b] have a cast AP1.

Their AP1 is forged, has [i]less[/i] offset than the US AP1 but [i]more[/i] offset than the US AP2. The topline appears to be thicker than the AP2 but thinner than the cast AP1.

(But don't take my word for it, since you didn't the first time, look for yourselves.)

In Asian markets if there are two clubs in the same line, AP2 would be thought of as inferior to AP1 because of the numbering so it makes sense to make the AP1 forged.

Forged clubs simply sell better since cast are considered inferior quality to forged.

Lol if you guys want to make donations for a set id be more than happy to do a comprehensive review of ap1's. Maybe next year I'll look into it.

I used to live in Seoul till July '14 for a couple of years and I've seen and played the forged AP1s. They are a different set to the non-korean market AP1, and also definitely not AP2s. A friend of mine has a set of forged AP1, and I have a set of AP2, both purchased from Acushnet in Korea. More offset, thicker sole and topline, more offset and larger head. I didn't know that the US spec AP1 was cast until I read this post...

Sorry I can't comment as I haven't seen the AP1 cast version which is available everywhere else around the world. Even the Japanese version of the AP1 are cast. Only available in Korea to my knowledge.

I noticed that too and it really stumped me. How many different markets are there?

Yeah, the market divisions are a little boggling. Korea and Japan are geographically adjacent, yet both of the markets have totally different offerings. Cold forged Vokey wedges in japan, white/white or black/black Pom covers vs black/red of korea and US.
