Lightweight driver shaft

Age 66; I have another torn rotator. This time it's the left, and I'd like to avoid surgery. I still play to an 8 but have lost significance distance with my driver; can't extend the left arm on the takeaway. Thought I'd try a lighter shaft. Currently play 65g in both my Ping G25 and Ping Anser drivers. Thought about trying a ladies shaft but they are too whippy. Suggestions appreciated.

 

Thinking about picking up the Cleveland Launcher from a few years ago. Might take some getting used to but 43g at throwdown prices might make a difference.

U already have Ping G25 & an Anser, so a lightweight shaft that would be easy to get with the Ping adapter installed would be the Rip Phenom (49 grams, I think) which is a stock option for the Anser.

I know Cleveland classics come with a 43gr C Kua. There are also some AXE SUPERLIGHT shafts on Golfworks. Last one that comes to mind is the Bassara 50g that was a stock option in 910 drivers. Those should all be well under $60.

I'm 68. Have an 8.6 index at the moment. Was using a 12* G25 adjusted to 11.5* then got a 10.5* G30. I'm thinking about the Aldila NV 44 Magnum regular at 5.8* torque and 44 grams or the Aldila RIP Phenom 50 regular at 5.4* torque and 49 grams. I have an NV 44 Magnum that I've used in my G25 and like the difference it made. Unfortunately the G30 tip is different from the G25.

Project X makes a 43 and even a 39... The 39's seem to be tough to find in anything but an X... Was a tour shaft.

I just bought the V Series driver with 43G Bassara shaft. Very light but very stable. I have never hit longer drives in my life.

Trying a Graphite Design G Series 50g with a Ping adapter. Roll out is suspect but it was late evening and the course is soft. Will give it another try.

I am late to reading your post but here is my story with lightweight driver shafts. I have been using a Ping K15 driver head....additional posts talk about my experiences with other more recent drivers and lightweight shafts. I am 66, handicap of 9, swing speed of about 85.

Xcaliber makes a nice SL. 48 grams. Very nice shaft. Have a 48 gram Harrison Mugen Gold I could send you, very inexpensive. Tip SLDR

It turned out to be too light for me but I was really impressed with the stiffness of the Aldila NV 44 Magnum. Extremely stable for it's weight. Haven't tried any of the other super LW shafts so can't really give a more specific comparison.

The Oban Kiyoshi Purple is a great shaft. I play a 45 03 in a 430 SLDR. Very stable shaft, smooth.

Find a Project X R flex or A flex PXv on eBay from a hallway. The one with red letters is the OEM one and they can be found very inexpensively. They're pretty light.

Also a Bassara from a Titleist might help as well.

AXE is also a great option. Have one of their other models in my 3w.

Miyazaki makes shafts for the Clevelands. Find a pull there, the aftermarket ones are spendy.

how does the 44 Magnum play compared to others in the Aldila line? Any comparison to the NV line?

I love my Fuel 50, smoother than speeder and good dispersion for me. I swing just over 100 mph.
