Custom Putter Paint Finishing

Has anyone had a successful try at custom painting a putterhead. If so what did you use and hoow did you do it? I don't mean black oxide or restoring...I have seen some pics with colorful heads...red..green..etc. I don't believe that they were OEM color options (could be wrong), but thought they were interesting.

I love doing paintfill; I've had good success with oil based model paints from any hobby shop. Latex based artist paint works as well but its a bit thick and doesn't self level like the hobby paint will. I would buy a very small brissle brush at the hobby shop as well. You will be suprised at how easy it can be if you take your time and experiment. Unlike most I actually try to make as little mess as possible; it makes the final product look even better. I would start with smaller letters and work your way from there. I just filled one of my R7 drivers and it turned out sweet, every bit as good as factory.

I've done paintfill before and have a steady hand with small brush, but what I've thought of toying with is the entire head...any thoughts?

I would not buy a paintfill kit from this guy. I bought not to long ago and was very dissapointed in it; the bottles barely had any paint in them and within a week the paint had basically "hardened" and was no longer useable. I think that the Testors model paint is a much better option not to mention cheaper. Just my .02 cents.

I'd definitely throw Tamiya acrylics in there as my #1 and Testors enamel as #2...but the original poster is talking about changing the color of the entire putter head, not the paintfill.

 

And for that subject, I can't really offer you any personal suggestions other than 1 place I know of that you can pay to have it done. I'll send you a PM with that information.

I powder coated my See More FGP black after I did some custom work to it (backfilling the cavities in the rear of the clubhead with epoxy/lead powder). I then did white and lime paintfill. It's in the paintfill thread.
