Hardstepping Question

Using 3 iron shaft for PW?
I am wanting to hardstep my j33b's, they are already 1/2" over with Tour Concept S3's. I want to try to get them between Dynamic Gold S-300's and X-100's. Is it possible to use 3 iron shaft and put is in the pw. Is it possible to tip it enough to equal the same step pattern of the rest of the set and then butt cut the rest. Has anyone tried hardstepping Tour Concept's, results?

Thanks, Jason

I was wondering about this also, what would be the difference between hardstepping DG S300 and soft stepping DG X100. Hi Joe, Also when you say soft stepping 1x or 2x what would the difference be there? Thanks ghud

On DG you are able to hard step once. DG has a custom order 36.5" raw shaft for hardstepping. This is the set up i like to play w/ lately.

Sofsteping X100 to get the same cpm number hard step S300 will not play the same, no matter what the number says.

The X100 softstep still play slightly stiffer and higher kick point. Per soft step will soften the flex about 1/4-1/3 depending which shaft and which OEM.

Thanks Joe, So this sounds like a fairly inexpensive thing just buy one shaft and pull the others and reinstall, right? I have a 2 iron, what shaft goes in there? I have the exact opposite problem I want to bring my ball flight down. I would consider other shafts also, (please recommend here), but for the cost of one shaft, well. ghud

Thanks for the info Joe, so if I have the ability to hardstep the tour concepts once and purchase a wedge shaft for the pw, the effects will be fairly minimal. This is more of a trial of the Tour Concepts. I have played DG X-100's for the last year and like the stiffness but would like to increase the height a bit especialy the long irons. I tried the Project X and they dont have the same feeling as the True Temper products, but I see numerous pros playing them. Any particular reason for the pro's liking the Project X. I should have said this earlier, I am pretty decent ball stiker with a 1 handicap, just always looking for improvements like everyone else.

Thanks, Jason

BY moving from DGX100 to TC X1 should already increase your trajectory especially on the long iron and play 1/4 flex softer, I don't see why you should go w/ S3 hard step. Hard step once TC S3 is just gonna be about the same w/ DGS300 IMO ( Flex wise ).
