I think to all the serious answers here, this was meant to be a light hearted and fun post. No one that plays for real cares. That said, the stories about guns, machetes, dudes getting high and raking 65s with whatever, and the general ability to laugh at ourselves and other golfers is more the point.

I don't think that's true. My game is fair enough now that I don't fear joining any group at all that the starter puts me with but, in the past, I would definitely feel intimidated when joining a group of good players.

Typically, the worry started when I'd look at bags and see blades and other top end equipment and although this would often be dispelled as players rarely play as well as their clubs would have you believe, there are definitely some set ups that made me shrink a little.

If money were no option and you wanted the most pricest clubs in bag I would go with Honma for woods and irons and wedges would be itobori and putter would be Gold's factory all from Japan.
This is what he means by itimidating someone that thinks they have expensive clubs in bag.

I get intimidated by name on bag with a list of corporate sponsors and matching clothing with more sponsors logos, and a caddy carrying with a bib.
