Look what I found in the storage room today

Recommended Posts

So I was asked by my dad to get the suitcases from the storage room and as soon as I entered I saw a set of blades laying around. I have no idea about classic clubs, so I'd appreciate any info on what I've gotten today. I did a Google research but couldn't really find anything. They definitely look good are in good condition so I'll put them in the back-up bag.

Here's a pic for reference:

Very nice !

John Letters made a succession of great blade irons in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.

The Power Master line started I believe in about 1963 - as per this 12/63 advert which i found in an old golf magazine

These ones are different to yours (interesting that they have a Channel Back - like the Hogan Apex of 30 years later !!)

I also found reference to an aluminium shafted set of Power Masters from 1969, but sadly no pic.

Yours look great anyway - take them out for a hit and let us know how they go ! What is the set btw ... 3-SW ?

My dad played John letters for years, his last set were the tour pro which were my first set of blades in the early 90s. John letters were throughout the 60, 70 and 80s a top brand with many of the top European professionals using them......you'll live hitting them as they will feel fantastic when hit well

The aluminum shafts are the ones my dad had in the 70s early 80s, said they were the best irons he ever hit......why he got rid Lord knows! But the tour pro he got that I later used were a brilliant iron

  • 2 years later...

Rather than start a new thread, I'm going to tack onto this one. We've seen some amazing hordes of clubs that various members have displayed over the years, but what about the rest of us with more modest collections?

I don't have a collection, more like a small gathering. I've been kicked out of the bedroom that used to substitute as a club room and have been given a hall closet or at least a portion of one. The catch being that I had to clean the sucker out and install some shelving. Finished it up this morning.

Our house is 150 years old, so it has always been short on storage. I'm not sure what this 5'x5' upper floor closet would have been used for back in the day.

The above are the surplus clubs consisting of a couple of grab and go bags plus two bags of extras that can make their way in and out of the everyday bag depending upon mood and where I'm playing. There's room on the opposite side for our everyday bags in the off-season.

I installed a screw eye in the door frame and have threaded a bungee cord through the bag handles to the shelving frame to keep the bags secured.

My problem is LOFT -- Lack of friggin' talent

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
