So many good options and shafts. It all depends on what you are looking for and how you swing the club. What's your driver swing speed? What weight shaft are you using? Are you looking for distance, or accuracy or both?

Also how much are you looking to spend? You can get a decent older driver for $100 used and pay more than $1000 for a new one.

Hard to recommend anything without more info.

Now is the time to buy. Sine the dollar is strong against the Yen. I recently used Rakuten and got a steal on my new B'stone driver. Shipping was about $20 to Seattle and got here in 3 days. Customs cleared ,my pkg w/i 3 hrs and was delivered by Japan EMS/USPS.

Sorry didn't mean to hijack the thread. What is the most popular JDM driver? Is there any JDM equivalent of SLDR/R15 in terms of popularity?
[/quote]

I would have to go with Tourstage, now Bridgestone as the most popular JDM driver for the low to mid handicappers. XXIO is very popular as well, but more of a game improvement to super game improvement brand of Dunlop, which owns Srixon and Cleveland...therefore the 46.5" length and 44g shaft.

Also, lots of US brands being sold in large numbers as well with Titleist, Callaway and Taylor Made selling well and also making their own JDM only clubs like the Titleist VG line, Callaway's Legacy line and Taylor Made Glorie line.

Cheers for the reply.

Is there any difference between Bridgestone US/EU vs Bridgestone JDM driver? I was thinking about SLDR US/EU market vs. SLDR JDM version.

Are you looking for more of a players club or a forgiving type club?

According to a Callaway rep at a demo day in Japan, the differences between JDM and US models are 1) different shafts used as the stock shaft (they mainly go lighter and less stout flex shafts for JDM models) and 2) the tolerances in weight, face angle, etc. is tighter (basically they check and hand pick the ones for the JDM market and the rest of the lot goes to the US). Also sometimes they use lighter heads, different loft configurations and different paint jobs.

I haven't hit the SLDR, so I can't tell if there's a difference in feel, but for sure the lie angle is flatter on the JDM version SLDR S (58* vs 61*). Of course, there's also the price difference. On the Japan TM web store, the SLDR S is going for about $450 (w/stock shaft) and the same S is going for $199 on the TM web store.

all my current drivers are JDM or japan version with factory shafts and i just want to add that the shafts are normally shorter and play softer than the US version in the equivalent flex..

the stock grips are also smaller in size...

i am an Asian senior golfer so these are a perfect fit------for me...

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
